POSTWAR SPORTS CARS The Austin-Healey 3000 remains one of the
best-loved classic British sports cars of all time and to many, the
best version was the final BJ8 Mark III, introduced in 1963 and
built through 1967. Breathing through dual SU carburetors, the
Austin-Healeys 2,912 cc six delivered 150 HP and a 120-mph top end.
Featuring a revised exhaust system and standard power brakes with
discs up front, the Big Healey was renowned for its sporting and
sophisticated driving experience. The snug cockpit was surprisingly
luxurious in contrast to other contemporary sports cars, with
high-grade amenities including a handsome wood-faced dashboard and
a floor console, plus full weather gear including roll-up side
windows. Only about 17,700 examples of the Mark III were produced,
and all survivors are cherished as enjoyable collector cars today
with strong club, parts, and restoration support readily
available.Finished in proper British Racing Green paint over a
cockpit trimmed in Black upholstery, this later-production 1967
Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III benefits from a quality professional
restoration performed by International Classics in Skokie, Illinois
from 2008 to 2010. Offered from single-owner care since 2008, this
prime-quality Big Healey has been only sparingly used with only an
approximate 2,500 miles since the restoration was completed. Since
2014, it has been serviced and stored on the owners behalf at The
Last Detail. Riding on a correct set of Dayton 72-spoke chrome wire
wheels, the Healeys many features include a 4-speed manual gearbox
with overdrive for relaxed high-speed cruising, a stainless steel
exhaust system, and both driving and fog lamps. Added heat and
sound shielding provides heightened comfort and an updated wiring
harness enhances reliability. Documentation includes restoration
receipts totaling around seventy five thousand invested into this
