1968 MERCURY COUGAR Low miles. This classic 1968 Mercury Cougar was
built in San Jose CA on 1/27/1968 in San Jose CA before being sold
to a known Indy car mechanic on 5/31/1968. Well cared for and
mostly original, it was repainted in a stunning custom black cherry
color in 2008. The classic sleek design lines, grill, hideaway
headlights and stance are original and unmodified. In 2012 the
302cid 4V V-8 engine top end was rebuilt, with new Ford E7TE cast
iron street ported cylinder heads, Holly Performer Aluminum intake
manifold, Holly 804578 traditional aluminum 600 CFM 4-BBL
carburetor, roller timing set, rocker arms, push rods, mild cam,
Melling high volume oil pump, water pump, polished Cougar valve
covers and steel chrome oil pan. The C-4 Merc-O-Matic transmission
was completely serviced and new driveshaft U-joints and front
shocks installed. The estimated 300HP is delivered to the ground
through a 3.0 rear axle. Newer items installed include; mirrors,
windshield weather strip, fuel tank, four core radiator, heater,
Vintage AC, battery, power 4-wheel disc brakes, power steering,
dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, electronic sequential
taillight turn signal control, Custom Auto Sound USA-6 radio with
10-disc CD changer, speakers, clock, correct front seat upholstery
and headliner, leather console, embroidered floor mats, trunk mat,
spare tire cover, 15" pinstripe tires, Magnum 500 15"x6" chrome
wheels with spinners and custom Cougar head emblems. All chrome,
trims, emblems and brightwork are excellent. All glass and rubber
are in good condition. This classic is a very comfortable driving
and handling vehicle with more than ample power to easily take you
down the roads. A great addition to any collection or your everyday
