In 1975 every major car manufacture was hit hard with heavy emission standards so early in that model year Pontiac only offered the 400 c.i. 185h.p engine in their Trans Am. That engine was a dog ! 11.2 second 0 to 60 & 17.99 sec. @ 74.5 mph 1/4 mile. The Trans Am buying public was infuriated and demanded Pontiac do something about it so in mid production year they answered bringing back the 455H/O, (High Output) performance package only offered on the Trans Am. It consisted of a 455 c.i. 200 h.p. engine, 4 speed transmission and posi rear with 3:23 gears. It propelled it's 0 to 60 to 9.8 sec. & 1/4 mile to 16.1 sec @ 88.8 mph, a vast improvement !
This beautiful car was recently repainted as well as the engine, transmission, steering & suspension were all rebuilt and upgraded by the original owners. All is documented with a ton of receipts. The body is completely original, solid and clean including the floors, trunk & frame. It was repainted in original Sterling Silver in base/clear and is absolutely gorgeous. All the chrome, trim & glass are in like new condition and the red interior is completely original and in show room new condition too.
Powered by the original numbers matching 455 c.i. engine that has had some serious upgrades. We were told that the engine now puts out well over 400 h.p. It runs super strong and sounds awesome ! Backed up by it's original 4 speed transmission and Hurst shifter and 10 bolt posi-traction rear with upgraded 3:55 gears. Other features include power steering, power disc brakes, dual exhaust, original AM-FM stereo with 8 track, rear defogger, super rare rear center console and 15" rally II wheels.
