numbers matching 1979 Corvette in excellent condition with the high
performance L82 engine, M21 close ratio 4-Speed manual
transmission, and only 60,018 original miles. We have owned and
sold over one hundred 1979 Corvettes over the years and we cannot
think of another example that is this remarkably original and in
such nice shape. This Corvette looks great, runs well, and is an
amazing driver. It is exceptionally rare with the engine and
transmission combination. This drive train combination is the most
desirable and sought-after that was available for a late C3
Corvette. This is the best and most performance oriented options
one could order for 1979. The original window sticker is still with
the car and shows that the car was ordered new with the L82, M21
close ratio 4-speed transmission, and F51 heavy duty stock
absorbers.
The car is totally solid with nice lines and no rust issues. It was
ordered new in the rare and highly desirable color combination of
Corvette Red (72) over Oyster Leather (122). This is the correct
and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag
pictured in this ad as well as the original window sticker.
Besides the correct paint and trim codes this Corvette is
completely "Numbers Matching" and virtually every part we checked
on the car is correct with the proper part numbers and appropriate
date codes. We have run the numbers on literally hundreds of
Corvettes over the years and there are very few that are so correct
and original. Even very detailed parts like the starter,
distributor, carburetor, alternator, all of the wheels, and even
all the windows are all correct. The last six digits of the VIN,
416021, are stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured in this
ad, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also
original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main
case and pictured. This car is verified as an original L82 4-speed
in a number of ways. First, on the engine pad is stamped "ZBA."
This suffix code denotes an L82 with manual transmission. The car
is also confirmed as an original and authentic L82 by the fifth
digit of the VIN. Only the L82 Corvettes with have a "4" in this
spot like this car does, a base motor L48 car will always have an
"8" in the fifth digit of the VIN.
In addition to the original window this L82 Corvette comes with a
wealth of documentation. The car with copies of previous titles and
a great number of receipts and records for service an maintenance
of the years. The previous titles and all of the receipts confirm
the low original mileage. The car also comes with the 1979
Chevrolet Consumer Information booklet, sport mirror/turn signal
and headlight dimmer lever visor insert, original Goodyear tire
booklet, Chevrolet chemical paint spotting sheet, and the 1979 GM
maintenance schedule booklet.

Exterior
The Red (72) exterior is in very nice original condition. As one
can see in the photos the paint has a good gloss and a deep shine.
The paint on this car appears to be original. We have seen no paint
lines, overspray, or other signs of paintwork at all. The original
factory bonding strips are still present and visible on all four
fenders. All of this information is another sign that this car has
never been in any kind of accident or had any body work. Both doors
open and shut nicely. The original rally wheels have a brilliant
finish. Please note that this car has the correct and original
style "4-clip" beauty rings, not the cheaper foreign made
replacements. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised white letter tires
have about 90% tread left and are correctly sized 225/70R15. There
are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded
from the many photos. As one would expect with a paintjob with many
years on it there is some checking and other small imperfections
around the car that were too small to show up in the photos, but
nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet
away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the
car, it is very clean and this Corvette has absolutely NO RUST
ISSUES. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key
hole" area in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of
corrosion around the windshield, which are the two most notorious
spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included specific photos
of the areas most prone to rust to show how nice this car
looks..
Window Date Codes
Please note that ALL of the glass on this Corvette is date coded
and original all the windows predate the car's body build date of
December 18, 1978 (E18). Original glass is a good indication that
this car has had no major accident history and never sustained
significant damage.
Interior
The Oyster Leather interior in this Corvette is in fantastic
original condition. The seats look just as good in person as they
do in the photos with no excessive wear. Please note that these
appear to be the original seats and skins, not some cheap
aftermarket covers or replacements. The gauge faces are clean and
crisp and the lenses are clear. The carpet is original and also in
excellent condition, this included the rear carpet, which is often
neglected. The dash and console look awesome with no cracks,
fading, or sun fading. The door panels are in great shape overall.
The door pulls are solid and intact. The radio work well and gets
good reception. Most importantly the dash has never been cut or
modified for an aftermarket installation. The jack and jack handle
are still with the car, stored correctly behind the passenger seat
as seen in the photos. The original spare is also still with the
car and has never been used. This Corvette has never been smoked
in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes.
Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well,
especially for a light color like oyster, and the excellent
condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the
meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its
life and another great verification of the very low original
mileage.
