2018 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Dateline: EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -
Chevrolet and Hot Wheels today announced the 2018 Camaro Hot Wheels
50th Anniversary Edition, celebrating 50 years of partnership,
performance innovation, and design. The commemorative package pays
homage to iconic Hot Wheels features including a Crush exterior
color and stripes that replicate the toys' famous orange tracks.
The $4,995 package, available on Camaro 2LT and 2SS coupe and
convertible models, goes on sale in the first quarter of 2018. "The
Camaro Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition captures that passion,
turning childhood fantasy into reality."
For consignment a 2018 edition of the commemorative 50th year
collaboration between Hot Wheels toy cars and the big boy toy, the
Chevrolet Camaro 2SS Coupe. Bathed in Crush, leather interior in
black with orange accents, and a 6.2 liter V8 under the hood, along
with many other installed optioned "goodies" this is a fantastic
toy in full scale fun. Did I mention only 1,020 original well
maintained miles? This is number 537 of 872 built and only 1 owner
from new...still on its MSO! It also has the GM Powertrain warranty
until 5/1/2023.
Exterior
Orange ya glad it's orange? Of course, and lets throw on a ground
effects package, some satin graphite stripes, a unique grille with
chrome inserts and black bowtie emblems, and a body matching rear
spoiler. Big satin graphite machined wheels (20 inches) are on all
4 corners and a suspension lowering kit, it's looking like it could
fit right in on that orange plastic track with the loop de loop,
and high banked curves. This toy though, does not require the
"stations" that the smaller versions needed to go through. These
"stations" sported the foam wheels that would propel the cars
around the plastic track. A black rocker panel aiding the ground
effects encircles this car all around on the bottom, and of course
orange Brembo brake calipers can be seen through those big
wheels.
Interior
Electric sex could be some words to describe this snappy
interior...all bathed in black matte leather and sporting some
carefully placed orange accents it is just juicy beautiful. High
back buckets with orange inserts and black bolsters complete with
orange stitching and chromed SS badges in their centers and it is
all serious rock and roll on this interior. Rear 2 plus 2's in back
and just beautifully molded curved vinyl and plastic form this
interior accenting, dash and console, with all molded in controls,
backlit gauges, and a center Chevrolet My Link 8-inch screen with
Bose stereo, navi, backup cam, Bluetooth connectivity, and other
goodies to keep you distracted with your fingers. Sport pedals are
installed and all this floating in black carpeting. Simple yet very
visually effective, very HOT...wheels-esque.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 6.2 liter V8 that will pump out 455 horses.
This mill has EFI and an 8-speed automatic transmission, with a
3.73 limited slip differential on back. Several driver modes are
available at the touch of a center mounted button next to the suede
covered shift lever.
Undercarriage
Like new as expected, but note electric power steering, performance
suspension with MacPherson Struts upfront, and a multi-link in
back. Power Brembo disc brakes are on all 4 corners and a like new
dual mode performance exhaust is mounted on with all the ground
effects panels. Stabilitrack Stability control is also optioned on
this car.
Drive-Ability
Like sitting atop the hill on the orange track awaiting the holding
gate to fall so I could propel myself down through the super dooper
looper, and around the banked curves, racing to the wheel house to
get more speed...but I digress, in reality it was much more
exciting, with great acceleration from those 455 horses, fantastic
handling, and the various modes give a totally different driving
feel with each selection. Solid Brembo braking, and the suede
wrapped steering wheel is just the right size for quick turning.
Lets just say this car (orange) crushed it on the test track!
Those smaller toys were great on that orange track, but this
version of orange is definitely juiced, sexy looking, and designed
to look and cook. Many extra features on this Hot Wheels
Anniversary edition, making it the ultimate adult toy.
