Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Running, driving, complete project car! Same owner
since 1986! Classic drop-top pink Cadillac!
BODY OVERVIEW: This classic 1959 Cadillac convertible does not
appear to have seen a full restoration, and as such it is showing
its age. In addition to some dings here and there, both front
fenders have notable rust at the lower edges, and there is at least
one apparent area of rust on the underside near the back, driver's
side edge of the floor pan. Despite its flaws, this is a very
restorable car!
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: This car was part of a department store
raffle giveaway in the mid-1980s as the grand prize. Originally
white, it was freshened up by Collector Cars in New York prior to
the giveaway, including a flashy new pink paint job. It's been over
30 years since this car was painted, and the paint is showing its
age. There are scratches, nicks, and other normal wear/paint
checking visible. That said, if an individual were looking to put
this car in roadworthy condition simply to drive it, rather than a
show-quality restoration, paint would not be a high-priority
item.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior of this Cadillac appears
to be largely original, especially the leather seats. When
considering the age of the vehicle, the seats are in surprisingly
good condition, but it should be noted that the leather is worn and
torn in areas and if a show car is desired they will certainly need
to be recovered. The dash and door panels are in surprisingly good
condition compared to the seats, and the carpet looks like it was
likely replaced in the 1980s when the car was refreshed for the
raffle. Nonetheless, much like the paint that carpet is also now
showing wear. Overall, the interior is 99% complete and in ideal
restoration condition.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood is a correct Cadillac 390 V8,
which runs surprisingly well! This car has had mechanical
maintenance performed over the last year to get it somewhat
roadworthy, but we wouldn't recommend setting out on a
cross-country roadtrip in it anytime soon. Newer parts include
exhaust, shocks, belts, hoses, and battery (as well as various
other small items). This car fires right up every time, and runs
smoothly. In addition to needing new tires, we would recommend
going through the mechanical items thoroughly before embarking on
any journey out of town. It has various and assorted fluid leaks.
The power convertible top is functional and the top material is in
good condition, albeit somewhat discolored from age. The hydraulic
top motor is working, but does leak hydraulic oil.
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: There's something special about a
1959 Cadillac convertible that hasn't been over-restored and isn't
valued at over $100,000. If you're looking for a complete and
mostly solid start to a project, this Cadillac is perfect!
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: If you don't like pink,
American land yachts, or project cars, this is probably not the one
for you.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? This car needs various and assorted repairs,
and should be considered a running, driving project car.
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Anyone looking to restore or
