For Sale: 1972 Chevrolet C10 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

We don't need to sell you on the virtues of the second-generation C/K. You already know it's attractive, timeless and universally cool. In fact, one could argue that, since it's a choice era of one of America's most popular vehicles, it's one of the best classics of all time. That said, falling for a handsome C Series is easy. The difficult part is finding a unique, well-built truck that'll keep you happy for years to come. Luckily, your friends at RK Motors Charlotte have a real knack for finding standout builds. And this national award winning C10, wrapping a proven Chevrolet drivetrain in top-notch customization and striking Hot Hues pigment, is about as standout as it gets. So, if the pickup bug has bitten you, take a closer look at this killer bowtie!

WHEN RACING, CUSTOMS AND METALWORK ARE LIFE

Commissioned by a lifelong drag racer who wanted to create a show stopping custom that blurred the lines between street rod and truck, this Chevy is the product of a detailed, ground-up build that's cool, clean and flat-out wild! A long way from the 1972 short wheelbase it began life as, Shameless C10 has hardly any surfaces that weren't carefully massaged for maximum display. After hours of precise metalwork, a solid unibody profile was sealed with custom cut, flush-fit glass and aligned to better-than-factory fit. With that novel fuselage as close to flawless as possible, custom graphite and orange stripes split custom Cosmic Dust and Candy Apple two-stage. And it all adds up to one sleek, eye-catching classic that's virtually guaranteed to drop jaws!

The subdued and classy lines of Chevrolet's acclaimed Action Line trucks are early '60s conservative. And because they're so universal in appeal, they take to customization exceptionally well. The show starts with a custom bumper, sourced from a Camaro, that's stretched an additional 18 inches around a custom, billet-trimmed valance. That valance is seamlessly integrated into a 1967 C10 front-clip that, fully welded, sinks modern, chrome-trimmed headlights at the sides of a chrome-trimmed billet grille. Above that grille, a custom Ram Air Hood leads a filled cowl that's finished with capped wipers. A two-inch chopped greenhouse tilts a re-angled windshield between rolled drip rails, one-piece side glass and slender billet mirrors. Radiused Suicide Doors fill jambs that have been fully welded, smoothed and sprayed. A long wheelbase bed, custom-tailored at both its head and its wheel wells, fit snuggly into what, through hours of skill, would become the truck's current unibody shape. A one-off aluminum tonneau, centered between custom bed caps, springs to life with one press of a remote. A welded and pinstriped tailgate joins fancy Marquez Design taillights in a custom, five-degree rake - which mirrors the factory rake of the truck's '67 front-clip. And a custom roll pan frames a second customized Camaro bumper that's finished with sleek center-outlet exhaust.

VORTEC 5300

In the name of performance and reliability, it's common practice for outrageous show customs to employ dressed-up versions of proven powertrains. So, this Chevy's builder decided to source a familiar Vortec 5300 small block and put all 300 of its horses to excellent use! At the top of the all-aluminum mill, Hilborn 8-stack fuel injection dresses polished breathers, billet rails and braided hoses with an Aeromotive regulator and a liquid-filled Summit pressure gauge. Fuel and air make their way to lightweight 799 heads, which tilt between a smooth COMP cam and monochromatic Chevrolet valve covers. Relocated coils fire bright MSD Super Conductor plug wires, which are loomed through coated Sanderson headers. A quality Vintage Air Front Runner serpentine drive spins an aluminum water pump between a polished alternator and a polished AC compressor. Cooling comes courtesy of a beefy Be Cool radiator that's complete with a polished support, polished tubes and a two electric puller fans. Everything communicates well thanks to two FAST ECUs: one for the truck's ignition and one for its fuel injection. Porterbuilt Fabrication supports hoist a smoothed hood. And the Candy Apple block looks great in a sea of custom two-stage that highlights a smoothed firewall and hand-built inner fenders.

OEM MEETS STREET ROD

Park this pickup on a lift and you'll see where coveted red carpet flash transitions to proven engineering prowess. Torque gets dealt by a smooth 4L60E 4-speed that, sourced from the same 2006 Silverado as this Chevy's buff Vortec small block, makes excellent use of a precise HGM COMPUSHIFT controller. Behind that box, a two-piece driveshaft twists a narrowed Silverado axle that's finished with a posi-traction differential and 3.43 gears. That massaged drivetrain rides a stiffened factory frame, which supplements a full Porterbuilt Fabrication suspension with sick AccuAir air ride. That chassis, dressed in Sparkling Silver powdercoat, gets led by Flaming River power rack-and-pinion steering. At the corners, 6-piston Baer calipers grip a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Spent gases are managed by coated pipes, which bark through a coated Flowmaster Hushpower muffler. And power pounds the pavement through polished Colorado Custom blades, which spin 255/45R20 Toyo Proxes STs in front of 285/50R20 Toyo Proxes STs.

WORLD CLASS THREADS FOR A WORLD CLASS TRUCK

Open this Chevy's custom doors and you'll find an outrageous custom interior that was stitched by the pros at In Stitches Customs of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Heavily bolstered buckets stretch Light Gray Ultraleather under custom medallions and custom snakeskin accents. In front of those mitts, a customized '59 Impala dash hangs Dakota Digital Ion telemetry over ducts for Vintage Air Gen IV climate control. A steel, hand-fabricated console founds cool, snakeskin-lined cupholders behind Kenwood touchscreen audio and an ISIS Intelligent Multiplex command center. That head unit bumps beats through Arc Audio amps and Arc Audio speakers. Premium carpet frames billet foot pedals between custom side panels, which front power-operated windows. And the driver spins a dressed Colorado Custom steering wheel around a polished, tilting column.

Owning a lights-out classic is cool. Owning a lights-out classic that's been tastefully customized is something few are lucky enough to experience. Don't miss your chance to enjoy this incredible C10!
