1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible
Car History
The muscle car called the Chevrolet Chevelle ran from 1964 until
1977, but none were as sought after as the big block Super Sports,
and none of those are more sought after than a restored triple
black 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible like the one we have here
at Adventure Classics.
This SS we have can be described in one word, stunning! It is not
only a real SS, with the #138 Vin code, but has a period correct
big block and the prowess of an SS, plus it is a convertible.
This car was restored and is in great condition inside and out and
just waiting for someone to drive it and enjoy it.
Engine & Drivetrain
This Chevelle has a big block Chevy 396 that is period correct V8
engine with the factory IVR stamping and #3855961 casting number to
show it was a born 1966 factory 396 high performance engine in a
Chevelle SS.
It is immaculate under the hood with the engine and intake painted
the correct Chevrolet orange, performance carb, aftermarket
performance distributor and spark plug wires, chrome Chevy factory
valve covers and air cleaner with the correct Turbo Jet decals,
factory cast iron exhaust headers flowing into dual exhaust
mufflers with dual chrome tips coming out the rear under the
bumper.
A 4-speed manual transmission keeps you in control of those ponies
and a H.D. rear end plants the power to the ground. Power brakes
provide the stopping power and the power steering controls the
handling.
Interior
The great black vinyl interior has dual front bucket bench seats
and matching rear seat, a chrome 4-speed shifter on the floor in
the factory console with a chrome shifter ball, all the correct
factory gauges and trim in the dash, a tachometer under the dash
that lets you keep your eye on the revs, accessory gauges under
there too, and a clock on the console.
It also has an AM/FM/Stereo system with remote that lets you crank
up the tunes while you cruise the streets.
Exterior
Triple black is a sure-fire hit when everybody sees this super
paint job on this SS with the factory SS twin bulge hood, chrome
Cragar SS wheels wrapped in Redline era tires, SS emblems and 396
emblems, dual sport mirrors, all giving this SS a muscle car
stance.
And lets not forget the new black convertible top that gives you
the option of enjoying the cruise with the top up or down, either
way it truly looks stunning like we said earlier.
Conclusion
Chevelles are incredibly popular right now and we don't expect this
1966 triple-black restored big block SS we have here at Adventure
Classics to last long. If you're looking for a rare first
generation Chevelle SS, your search is over.
