1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Pace Car Replica
Car History
Why This Car Is Special
In 1969, the Chevrolet Camaro was chosen as the Official Pace Car
for the 1969 running of the Indianapolis 500 and as the Official
Car of the '500' Festival. This was a repeat performance for Camaro
since it had also been chosen as the 1967 Pace Car.
The 1969 Pace Car Replicas were designed to be visible and they
were being Dover White RS/SS convertibles with Hugger Orange Z28
style stripes and orange hound's-tooth cloth seats. All were
equipped with the recently released fresh air cowl hood and were
RS/SS convertibles with white tops ordered under RPO Z11.
We have a first-generation 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car Replica
convertible we here at Adventure Classics that looks very nice.
Replicas of the pace cars were also white RS/SS convertibles with
white tops ordered under RPO Z11. The Z11 option
Engine & Drivetrain
Our 1969 has a correct factory engine casting number of #3970010
that shows it to be a 1969 350 cubic inch small block Chevrolet
engine looks great sitting in the clean and detailed engine
compartment.
The engine block and valve covers are painted in the correct
Chevrolet factory orange paint, aluminum intake, performance carb,
factory cast iron exhaust headers, power steering and brakes, and
is backed by a Turbo Hydro 3-speed automatic transmission.
It rolls on BF Goodrich Radial TA tires and the factory Rallye
wheels with chrome trim rings and caps.
Interior
Our Indy Camaro has the only interior color the Pace Car Camaros
had, the bright orange hound's-tooth cloth and vinyl front bucket
seats and the matching rear seat and door panels, wood steering
wheel, great factory dash with all the correct gauges including the
factory 120 mph speedometer, Center Console with horseshoe
automatic shifter and Tic-Toc gauge cluster, wood grain trim, radio
with speakers, and all of it looks as new.
Exterior
The Trim Tag verifies this 1969 has the correct #50 Code Dover
White paint on the exterior like it came with from the factory as a
Indy 500 Pace Car Replica as well as the orange Z28 hood and deck
lid stripes, orange D96 fender striping, and white rocker
panels.
The required options with the Z11 package included the convertible
top, D80 spoilers, YA1 deluxe seatbelts, ZJ7 rally wheels, ZL2
special ducted hood, Z22 Rally Sport front end, Z27 Super Sport,
and Z87 custom interior (orange hound's-tooth, code 720).
Our Camaro is showing some age with the paint checking, minor
scratches with surface rust, and priced accordingly.
