Wins Intellichoice® Award for the Best Overall Value in Its Class
€" 1997 GMC Truck magazine-advertisement headline The ad referred
to above went on: The Intellichoice Award is particularly
meaningful because it's based on the true value of a pickup: the
coast of owning it for five years. Purchase price, depreciation,
insurance, maintenance, and fuel costs were all calculated. And our
Sierra was judged best in its class. Offered here is an excellent,
one-owner example of this award-winning value: a 1997 GMC Sierra
K1500 regular cab, shortbed, 4-wheel-drive in white-and-tan over
tan. The truck's odometer shows 118,500 miles, or just under 5,000
miles per-year on average. The overall exceptional condition of the
pickup shows what can result from a single owner's commitment to
care and regular servicing. The truck's white paint retains its
original shine across every body panel, including the cargo box and
tailgate. The lower body's tan paint and stripe is virtually
factory-perfect, as is the thin paint stripe running the length of
the truck, and the Z71 graphics on the rear fenders. Chrome
bumpers, grille trim, Five-spoke, 16-inch alloy wheels (showing
minor indications of normal wear) are mounted with BFGoodrich
All-Terrain raised-white-letter T/A tires. Lighting lenses are
clear and un-cracked, and cabin glass, including the sliding rear
window, is similarly free of damage. A hitch-receiver and
electrical connections for a trailer are mounted below the rear
step bumper. The truck's interior condition is exemplary. The tan
fabric upholstery on the high-back seats and center armrest (and
storage area) has been meticulously maintained. It's free of
noteworthy signs of wear, and absolutely no sign of damage to the
fabric. In the same way, the tan carpeting is clean and very
well-kept. The truck's dash (also tan) features driver-focused
instruments together with controls for the audio system (with CD)
and the HVAC controls (the air conditioning system blows cold)
located on the right hand side, surrounded by black for easy
legibility. All instrument and control markings are clear and
crisp. An added DrawTite® Actuator II trailer-control unit is
mounted below the dash. Power window and door-lock controls are
mounted on the door trim. The automatic-transmission shifter is
console-mounted while the transfer-case lever is floor-mounted. The
cabin headliner is free of damage or discoloration, and is properly
affixed. Under the hood, the venerable 5.7-liter Chevrolet Vortec
V8-the powerplant in millions of GM trucks-is centerstage in a
well-maintained, extremely clean engine bay. All related components
are properly mounted; all wiring and engine-cooling hoses properly
routed. The engine has clearly benefited from regular servicing.
Viewed from below, the chassis is complete and un-damaged. The
protective plate over the front-axle differential, which is often
missing when a truck has been pushed to its off-road limits, is
still in place here. We expect and invite in-person inspection of
this highly original, excellent-condition 1997 GMC Sierra K1500 at
