Vehicle Description
There are plenty of nice Sting Rays that are worth the money. But
then there are the rare few like this that you'll give parts of
your anatomy for just because you want to want the top awards the
moment you leave the showroom. This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427
Tri-Power is a numbers-matching big-block with factory air and in
its single-year color. Do we have your attention yet? Good, because
there are even more mouth-watering details.
If you're a Corvette aficionado, then you already know that 1967
was the last year of the C2, and it's seen in most circles as the
best of the breed. Goodwood Green was a single-year offering. Bart
Starr was even given a Goodwood Green Corvette for winning the 1967
Super Bowl! Now that you understand the pedigree, take a look at
the quality of this example. It was comprehensively and correctly
restored in the early 2000s. Since then it has spent its time
collecting some serious awards. This has received NCRS Top Flight
(regionals and national) and the Vettefest Nationals Gold Spinner
Award. It was Gold Certified at the 2000 Bloomington Gold event.
That means this was judged to be restored within 95 percent
accuracy of factory standards. And Bloomington Gold judges look at
everything right down to the bolts. These three awards are the
sought-after Triple Crown, and so this one runs in very select
circles. In fact, it has the highest award from NCRS: the Duntov
Mark of Excellence. All of this tells you the level of prestige in
this coupe, but there's also a desirability just by being in its
presence. The fit and finish is exactly what you want from a Sting
Ray of this caliber. This is absolutely a show car with excellent
panel gaps and a beautiful gloss to highlight the crisp styling.
And while this may be a concours winner, it also has all the right
pieces to be the Saturday night aggressor. The terrific side
exhaust, aluminum wheels with knock-off center caps, and redline
tires are all part of the options list that show this is a powerful
machine. And the stinger hood accented in white draws added
attention to the big block underneath.
The interior is like a time machine back to 1967. It feels that
fresh because the bucket seats, door panels, carpeting, dash,
center console, and every other square inch inside this coupe was
scrutinized before going up for the big awards. And besides, tan
leather against the deep green exterior is one of the most
timelessly attractive combos around. There's a long options list
that makes this more comfortable while also adding to the rarity.
This includes features like power windows and the headrests. And
while this is the kind of car that can turn a garage into a museum,
it also has desirable features that make the drive more comfortable
like the Delco AM/FM radio, power steering, and cold-blowing air
conditioning. The wood rim of the steering wheel feels inviting,
and the bright shifter is a beacon calling out to your right hand.
So when you make this one yours, you'll find it irresistible to
take it out every once in a while to really make the needles on the
large speedo and tach dance.
There's definitely something magical about a 427 in a Corvette. So
you know it's truly special having the original numbers-matching
L68 motor still living under the hood and looking fantastic. The
big block is dressed properly with Chevy Orange on the block and
valve covers. This one is correct right down to the details like
the decals and the Frigidaire compressor. Plus, there's a nice bit
of flash with the correct ignition shield and chrome air cleaner
with 427 callouts. And best of all, we all know that underneath
that triangle topper lives the ultra-desirable triple set of dual
Holley carburetors. Not only does it look great, but also you'll
love hitting the road in this big block classic, because it's all
about control. The numbers-matching Muncie M21 four-speed manual
transmission allows you to dial in the performance and roar of the
side pipes on a moment's notice; the fully-independent suspension
holds the road better than some modern muscle machines; and the
four-wheel power disc brakes provide superior stopping power.
One of only 2101 built with this L68, the rarity has been cherished
on this Sting Ray. That's why it comes with the right paperwork,
including the owner's manual, a reproduction window sticker, the
original warranty card, restoration photos, and thousands $$$$$ in
restoration/build receipts. This is the rare, high quality vintage
car that you'll love to show and drive. This Corvette is the total
package, and so it's looking for a true collector. Is that you?
