GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1932 Chevrolet
Confederate for purchase. While Ford held steadfast to the
efficient Model A for too long, Chevy was giving buyers different
body styles and choices gaining popularity. The big surprise did
happen in 1931 when for the first time Chevrolet had outsold Ford
in a model year. They heard rumors of Ford offering a V-8 engine
next year, so Chevrolet dressed up all of the model styles with
smoother lines and the addition of some cool hood doors on all 1932
models." Replacing the 22 vertical louvers per hood side were those
aforementioned four "ports," as Chevrolet called them, and they,
like the rest of the car's updated styling, were directly
influenced by Oldsmobile and Cadillac; indeed, the 1932 Confederate
BA Series cars quickly earned the nickname "Baby Cadillacs." The
new Carter downdraft carburetor, Chevrolet's first, was mounted
above the intake manifold to support easier starting, smoother
idling, greater gas mileage and overall better performance. With
the horsepower now at 60, the value-priced Chevrolet not only
looked like a 'baby Cadillac,' but it performed significantly
better now, too." Other mechanical advances debuting this year were
"Silent Syncro-Mesh" on second and third gears, and standard
selective freewheeling, which improved highway economy.
This '32 Chevy Confederate offered here is part of an estate and
was loved by the owner for many years. It rides on 18 inch wire
wheels with white wall tires. The body is straight and solid. The
black paint is starting to reveal its age but is still very
presentable. The chrome is in good condition and accents the body
well. The 6 cylinder runs well and the manual transmission
functions as it should. It has an aftermarket horn and a rear
mounted spare tire.
