This 1939 Cadillac LaSalle is a terrific mix of true classic and
street machine. After all, beneath the swoopy coupe lines are
upgrades a custom luxury interior and serious small block power. So
there's a distinction here that goes well-beyond the LaSalle
name.
We love LaSalles just because we get to tell the history about how
they spent a few years tucked under Cadillac's wing. So that makes
this one distinct even before you look at the details. The imposing
grille, torpedo-like headlights, integrated spare tire carriers,
and outstretched tail lights give this an imposing style. And while
the black paint gives this some attitude, it also has a glossy
finish that loves to highlight the flowing line of the big fenders
and coupe profile. And while this was built to be a driver, the
body lines have a straight look of quality. The classic elements
are complete, including the hood ornament, ribbed chrome bumpers,
and full-length trim. But we bet what you really like is how this
one gives some nice hints at its upgraded nature with the large

nicely to look quite cool. Plus, the gray on the door panels and
carpeting all harmonize to give you a smart-looking package that

need servicing to blow cold again.) The Lecarra sports steering
wheel is done in a coordinating gray, and it's mounted on a tilt
column to give you a clear view to the classic-style VDO gauge
package and large AutoMeter tach.
The engine bay has a terrific shining style where the polished
aluminum on the firewall and inner walls really amplify the gleam
coming off the motor. And you'll love this for more than just its
show-ready style. This coupe has been upgraded to a 350 cubic-inch
V8 that has been built with go-fast goodies like an Edelbrock AVS 2
four-barrel carburetor, an upgrade intake, an Accel 300+ racing
ignition, and shorty headers feeding the dual exhaust. It's also
supported by the right pieces, like a serpentine belt system, steel
braided lines, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. The TH400
three-speed automatic transmission is a stout unit that can handle
the added power, and this sends it to a Ford 9-inch rear. You also
have power steering, power brakes, and front discs to make this
quite a solid all-around cruiser.
