offered a full line of automobiles for the 1953 model year, at
price points of just over $2,000 up to $4,000 plus. Power for the
Buick line came from the traditional inline eight-cylinder 263
cubic-inch v8 engine. This was a period when each of gm's divisions
built its own engines and Buick had come up with a particularly
interesting and innovative cylinder head design that had excellent
breathing and also let Buick employ the highest compression ratio,
8.5:1, in the industry in 1953.As expected from Buick in the
fifties the 1953 model range were distinctively restyled, with
elegant jet-age chrome and stainless-steel trim on the exterior and
interior. The instrument panel was fitted with aircraft-style
controls and leather sweeping brightwork and signature ventiports
fender ventilation holes all ads to the elegant a classic exterior
styling features these cars carried. A dynaflow automatic
transmission and power steering made the full-size automobile easy
to operate.
