Body off frame retro restored. It retains it's original looks with
very significant mechanical upgrades. It rides on Corvette
independent suspension front and back, has a Ford Cobra fuel
injected 16 valve motor, 5-speed trans and air conditioning plus a
whole lot more. This car was owned and built by early Ford Guru and
past president of the AACA, the late Benny Bootle. Recently from
the Tom Mack's personal collection, he owned it 10 years.
EXTERIOR: Original, unmolested body. Other than a lowered stance
and wider rims it looks stock. Body is laser beam straight, there's
no rust, damage or waves. The doors click shut. The paint is
polished out like glass. I did find some hairline age cracks, you
would have to look close to find them. It looks like every piece of
exterior trim was replaced or restored. It has bumper guards, dual
mirros and extra trim as part of the Super Deluxe. The glass has
been replaced. All the weatherstrips, gaskets and fender welts were
replaced. It has a rich black cloth power convertible top with
maroon piping. The steel rims are custom made, painted to match the
car and has original style trim. They are wider in back with
beefier tires.
INTERIOR: Very classy interior keeping its vintage feel. The
original dash was retained and the gauges were replaced. The
woodgraining was duplicated like the original Super Deluxe. The
seats were rebuilt, recushioned and reupholstered in a high grade
vinyl using the original patterns. The door panels are all redone
to match. The window cranks, visors, mirror, knobs are excellent.
It has a vintage style steering wheel on a tilt column. The shifter
looks like the original with a V8 shift knob. It has a retro stereo
with original style knobs. Vintage Air controls and vents are
neatly tucked away under the dash. It has premium carpet with bound
edges and matching floor mats. There are seat belts in the front.
It is upholstered in the well where the top folds down into. The
top frame has been apart, painted and given new weather strips.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Check this out: it has a Mustang Cobra 4.6
liter, fuel injected, 16 valve aluminum modular engine. These are
built by Ford's SVT (Special Vehicles Team) and each one is hand
built and signed by the 2 people that built it. The components look
like they belong to this motor- alternator, power steering, air
intake etc. An electric fan and big radiator keeps it cool. The
firewall and under the hood is painted real nice.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk has been boxed, the side walls are
upholstered in matching leather. The floor is insulated and has
same plush carpet with bound edges. Under the trunk lid is painted
real nicely. There's also a CD changer and an amplifier for the
stereo.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame for a major transformation.
The frame was custom fabricated to accommodate a C5 Corvette
independent front and rear suspension. In front it has aluminium
control arms and spindles, coil over shocks and rack & pinion
steering. In back it has fiberglass springs and tubular control
arms. It has disc brakes at all 4 wheels, e-brake system and the
power brake booster is under the car. It has a composite fuel tank.
It has a neatly bent exhaust with welded joints, stainless
Magnaflow mufflers and resonators. Looking up at the motor it's
spotless. The trans is a 5-speed with hydraulic clutch. A custom
driveshaft connecting to the Corvette rear end. The chassis is
detailed, the bottom of the body has pristine metal painted gloss
maroon. Every component was new or rebuilt down to the screws.
This is a classy hot rod. It has a rich, mature look but also has
some exhilarating performance to satisfy that not so mature side of
you!
