Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300D
Turbo Diesel. The W123 is the car that cemented Mercedes-Benz's
reputation for reliability and longevity, with many reaching half a
million miles and still going strong. The fact that anything under
200,000 miles like this one is considered "low mileage" is pretty
remarkable in and of itself.
This 300D is presented in the gorgeous color of nautical blue over
brown leather interior. It's a long-term, two-owner Atlanta car
with no known rust that just saw an extensive cosmetic and
mechanical freshening at the hands of its enthusiast caretaker.
Nice paint, new Bundt wheels with new Yokohamas, good glass,
bumpers, trim, etc. All new rubber including door, sunroof and
trunk seals plus window channels and sweeps.
Interior was fully refinished with new leather seats and door
panels and all new Zebrano wood. Excellent crack-free dash. The
Continental head unit is among our favorites for providing modern
functionality with a look appropriate for a 1980s European car.
HVAC has been fully serviced with new vacuum pods and control
panel, a new heater mono-valve and a new A/C compressor,
receiver-drier and expansion valve.
Under the hood is the legendary OM617A turbocharged five-cylinder
Diesel mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent service
includes glow plugs, air filter, fuel filter, fuel lines, oil pan
and gasket, plus a new vacuum pump. It starts easily and runs well
(and with fewer than 170,000 miles, it's barely broken in).
Suspension, steering and brake systems have recently seen
comprehensive service including new Bilstein shocks all around, new
front brake rotors and pads, new steering linkage and complete
front-end rebuild with control arm bushings, strut rod bushings,
ball joints, etc. The result is an exceptionally tight, smooth and
rattle-free chassis that drives as it did when new.
