Vehicle Description
This 1963 Studebaker Avanti is an incredibly rare example of
Studebaker's first entry into the luxury sports car market. What
makes this Avanti, which is 1 of 91 produced, so rare is that it
was equipped with a sporty 4 Speed Manual Transmission along with
Factory Air Conditioning. The Avanti is known to be a Raymond Loewy
masterpiece, with its uniquely styled fiberglass body. There is no
mistaking an Avanti! This particular Studebaker Avanti is
well-documented, coming with an original owners manual and a copy
of the original build sheet. According to the build sheet, this
Avanti was ordered on July 11, 1962 and the final assembly date was
September 26, 1962. The build sheet also reveals that a very lucky
buyer in Amarillo, Texas purchased this car new. A Studebaker
Avanti R1 289 Cubic Inch V8 motor with a Single 4 Barrel carburetor
powers this luxury automobile. With the R1 powerplant and a 4 Speed
Manual transmission, this Avanti is a really sporty car to drive.
Dual exhaust gives this Studebaker a nice throaty sound. This
Avanti is also well-optioned with Factory Front Disc Power Brakes
and Factory Power Steering, which make for a much more enjoyable
car to drive. Both the brakes and power steering were rebuilt a few
years back, along with the carburetor and a number of other
elements of this car. This classic Studebaker was also ordered with
a Twin Traction Rear Differential. The fiberglass body was freshly
repainted in its original color, Avanti White, and looks
outstanding, just as it did when it rolled off the factory floor
back in 1962. The interior on this beautiful Avanti has also been
freshened up over the past few years. The Red Vinyl Front Bucket
Seats and the Red Vinyl Rear Bench give this early sports car a
very elevated, almost European, look. The center console looks
great as well and is equipped with the shifter and a number of the
controls for the car. The fawn colored dash and steering wheel are
in excellent shape and appear to have been recently restored as
well. Factory Air Conditioning is perhaps the most significant
option that this Avanti is equipped with and provides for more
enjoyable cruising on hot summer days. Even the radio is the
higher-end All Transistor Manual Tuning Radio. The factory dash is
equipped with 8 different gauges, which give this Avanti the
futuristic look of a cockpit. If you're looking for an ultra-rare,
fun-to-drive, classic luxury sports car, this 1963 Studebaker
Avanti is the car for you! Give us a call today!
