Vehicle Description
2015 Mercedes Benz SL550
The Autobahn is the federal controlled-access highway system in
Germany. The official German term is Bundesautobahn (abbreviated
BAB), which translates as "federal motorway". The literal meaning
of the word Bundesautobahn is "Federal Auto(mobile) Track". German
Autobahnen are widely known for having no federally mandated speed
limit for some classes of vehicles. However, limits are posted (and
enforced) in areas that are urbanized, substandard, accident-prone,
or under construction. On speed-unrestricted stretches, an advisory
speed limit (Richtgeschwindigkeit) of 130 kilometers per hour (81
mph) applies. While driving faster is not illegal as such in the
absence of a speed limit, it can cause an increased liability in
the case of a collision (which mandatory auto insurance has to
cover); courts have ruled that an "ideal driver" who is exempt from
absolute liability for "inevitable" tort under the law would not
exceed Richtgeschwindigkeit.
For consignment, a rare Mercedes Benz with 2015 being the only year
this car was produced, and even then, a mere 400 were made. We give
you the 2015 Mercedes Benz SL550 White Arrow. This car is capable
of whisking you from Berlin to Cologne with seemingly unlimited
power and on road nimble behavior. This is courtesy a 4.7 liter
twin turbo V8. Comfort is also emphasized with Nappa leather,
driver assistance package and many other features that go along
with this White Arrow edition of the Super-Leicht 550.
Exterior
Designo Diamond White bathes the sculpted steel, aluminum, glass
and composite materials that make up this sports car. A large 3
pointed star is within the rakish grille that offers two tiers of
openings for extra air to flow freely into the engine bay. Our
consigner has added 3M Protector which seamlessly protects the
hood, front bumper, and mirrors. This swept back look continues for
the windscreen which is neatly tucked in behind the dual vented
hood. More black venting can be seen on the sides of the front
fenders, and some sporty chromed fins run through these along with
nearby White Arrow badging. 19 inch AMG twin 7 spoke wheels in mint
condition, never curbed, are wrapped in well heeled rubber, and
show the large disc brakes within their design. On top a smoked
glass panoramic roof which magically can retract into the rear of
this car, offers plenty of light to enter when this top is in the
up position. On back a nicely rounded rear deck has a V shaped tail
light wrapping around each corner of the rear quarter, and within
the rear roll pan which is black, dual chrome tipped exhaust exits
reside. All this gives us an excellent visual performance with nary
a dent or ding allowed to happen by a very particular
consigner.
Interior
Bedecked with plenty of bells and whistles and a use for all of
them, beautifully designed door panels welcome us inside. Nice
usage of chrome accenting, white Nappa leather and black molded
vinyl, house power windows, seats, mirrors, and even an illuminated
door sill to aid you in a night time access or egress. Inside MB
designers made sure you will be in ergonomic heaven with all the
controls available at your fingertips or feet. Like new black and
white Nappa leather covered high back and extra bolstered seats
which are nice and wide, cradle you in this cabin. These seats are
heated, cooled, and offer a massage for those longer jaunts on the
A7. A beautiful center console which starts behind the buckets with
a tamboured storage area, then races forward between the seats with
more storage, the shift lever with the various mode selections
taking place right next door with a wheel styled "mouse" which
controls the 7 inch display and all the features available. A few
of which are active blind spot assist, active lane keeping assist,
Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, back up camera and digital
sound system displays all in one screen. Chromed eyeball vents with
a 4 pointed star inserts pepper the dash which features deeply set
digital display instrumentation within a padded white stitched
leather dash with a unique MB design. In the top center of the dash
is a hooded chronograph clock which tells you you need to press the
accelerator if you want to be on time! Bang and Olufsen provide the
sound and a shout out to the roof where the roof's glass panel
which has Sky Control which acts like an expensive pair of
sunglasses and darkness as it gets brighter outside. Black piano
lacquer trim can be seen throughout as well as black carpeting
flooding the floors, all in excellent pristine condition.
Drivetrain
The 4.7-liter twin-turbo V-8 in the SL550 whips out 429 horsepower,
up strongly from the prior car's normally aspirated base V-8. More
astonishing is the torque, which escalates from 391 pound-feet to
516 lb-ft. Power's capped at a 6300-rpm redline, but most of it is
available at 1600 rpm, giving the SL 550 extremely powerful
acceleration. Mercedes pegs 0-60 mph times at 4.5 seconds, almost a
second quicker than the previous year's edition, and top speed in
this model is limited to 130 mph in the USA. For the shifting a
7-speed automatic 7G Tronic Plus with padded shifters gets things
going in a hurry. The driver can choose from manual, eco, or
sport-shift modes. A 2.65 final drive makes this powerful car also
very efficient on the high test only petrol front.
Undercarriage
Typical of German engineering, smooth ground effects panels cover
most of the inner workings of this car. Independent, coil spring
suspension is all around as are power disc brakes which have a pre
safe braking mode.
Drive-Ability
Because our consigner requested we do not put any additional
mileage on this car, we need to take his word for the drive-ability
section. We can say he drove it here so it runs! (but of course!).
We assume in present condition all functions were working just
perfectly. Our photographer loved the soft close doors function,
and as noted many driving modes are available.
Definitely the creme' de la creme' with reference to a classy
sports car that puts on oodles of convenience factors, awesome
power, and comfort which is unsurpassed. Low miles and a real
looker, the German engineers got it right for this 1 year off
beauty. Schnell! Schnell!
