Vehicle Description
STK 2932 1948 Chevrolet 3100
This 1948 Chevrolet 3100 5-window pickup has been a member of one
family since the day it left the showroom floor. It has been the
beneficiary of a full restoration - some of the work done by the
owner and some professionally. The solid, straight body has been
refinished in single-stage Maroon enamel that was applied liberally
and is in good condition. The finish is heavy, but it is certainly
possible that wet sanding with 400/800 grit paper would yield an
even smoother high-gloss finish. All of the chrome looks very good
and the bed is fitted with polished oak flooring. Period-correct
Coker wide-white radials are mounted on 15" painted steel wheels
and Chevrolet dog-dish hubcaps complete the exterior package. The
interior was totally restored with gray cloth upholstery that is
every bit as classy as a late-model Silverado. The classic
dashboard holds a 'factory gauge package' and the combination of
roll-down windows and adjustable fender vents provides cool
comfort. The detailed engine compartment houses a rebuilt (2013)
235ci six-cylinder engine that is said to have come from a mid-'50s
Chevy truck. Conversion to this later model motor provides
crankshaft insert bearings under oil pressure instead of the
babbitt design used in the original 216ci motor. This 'stovebolt'
runs like a Swiss watch. The original 4-speed manual transmission
w/granny gear utilizes a floor-mounted shifter. The undercarriage
is very clean, a new fuel tank has been installed and brakes are
hydraulic drum units. The family has cared for this Chevy 3100 for
over 70 years. If you act post-haste, it could be your turn next.
The view from the drivers seat is pretty amazing - you will not be
disappointed. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS"
