Vehicle Description
1994 Mazda Miata
Inspired by classic British roadsters such as the MG, MGB, and
Triumph Spitfire, but engineered to be as reliable as a Toyota
Corolla, the original MX-5 Miata took the market by storm when it
debuted in 1989 for the 1990 model year. The Miata is a small
roadster from Mazda, it's name is derived from the Old German word
miete meaning 'reward'. 2- Miata is African name meaning "first
born" or "first lady" depending on the tribe you are from.
A fourth year roadster for consignment in good overall condition.
This car has a new convertible top and radiator, a recent tune up,
and some new seats and a console were put in. The current consigner
states the car was hit in the rear, but minor damage was dutifully
repaired.
Exterior
Menacing black in good condition drapes this British inspired
sports car. A new black Robbins canvas convertible top with a
plastic rear window has been installed replacing the original top.
Rounded bumpers, steel rockers, and all the bulbous design is all
bathed in black with only the door handles left to shine, although
the black does retain its shine. There are a few faults throughout,
but all is looking good. Even the wheels have been blackened and
show some slight chip off around the edges where the tires are
mounted. Pop up hidden headlights keep the front of the car nicely
aero smooth and integrated rounded tail lights wrap around the rear
quarters. Small but mighty with some slipstream design added
in.
Interior
Smooth black vinyl covers the sleek door panels on the inside.
Honeycombed black and white insert pattern broadcloth covers the
high back buckets, which are Miata NB seats. On the driver's seat
there is some wear off of this honeycomb pattern. Black bolsters
are on the sides and integrate at the top of the seats in more
broadcloth for the melted in headrests. An IL Motorsports center
console replaces the original, sporting a padded armrest, window
toggles, and a dark gray suede shifter boot that has a hint of red
stitching. As it rides to the dash we have a small storage box, the
AM/FM/cassette radio, temp sliders and eyeball A/C and Heat vents.
Black and gray molded vinyl play on this rounded dash front, with
the black making the eyebrow in front of the driver, which houses
the instruments and is fronted by the rally steering wheel. A sea
of black carpeting floods the floors, and even the interior of the
trunk is looking great!
Drivetrain
A 1.8 liter 4-cylinder twin cam engine is fed by EFI and on back is
attached to a 5-speed manual transmission, and all run very
smoothly. 4.10 gears are powering the rear axle. Condition shows
nicely, just a bit of corrosion on the cast pieces on this
mill.
Undercarriage
Slight surface rust is emerging from the suspension parts, but all
is solid unibody construction with good floor pans, and rockers. A
flying Miata butterfly brace and drive shaft has been added on. as
well as the standard independent coil spring suspension and power
disc brakes on all 4 corners. Also, has a limited slip
differential.
Drive-Ability
This little sports car fired right up and ran like a champ on the
test track. Other than the airbag light flashing all functions were
working just great.
As the ad slogan goes ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM!, and this car was built
before the writer of that campaign was born. All in menacing black,
and looking like the original that drove out of the showroom in
1994.
