1971 Chevrolet Corvette LS6 Resto-Mod For Sale - 1 of Only 188 LS6
Examples Ever Built LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1971
Chevrolet Corvette LS6 Resto-Mod The 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
had very little changes from the previous year's beforehand. The
reason for this, is that the UAW labor dispute of 1969 shortened
production of the 1970 model, so GM decided to make the 1971 model
essentially an extension of the 70. A positive fact that came from
the dispute however, is that it allowed Chevrolet to produce a more
trouble free and better machine for 1971. With a base price of
$5,496, Chevrolet offered the choice of 3 different engines from a
350/330hp to a 454/425hp, 3 different transmissions, and many other
factory options. In all, there were 21,801 Corvettes produced for
the 1971 year. There are few cars in the collector car world that
command the kind of respect and admiration as the LS6 Corvette.
This '71 Corvette LS6 was built on March 22, 1971 and was delivered
to Botnick Motor in Binghamton, New York. This is one of only 188
factory built in 1971 with the LS6 454 engine option, rated at 425
HP and with Muncie 4 speed transmission. This was a wonderful
original car that still wore its original paint and had never been
restored until being treated to an exacting nut and bolt frame off
restoration that resulted in an NCRS Top Flight award. Finished in
the factory correct #983 Brands Hatch Green with complimentary
Saddle leather interior. It also has tilt steering wheel, power
windows, power steering and brakes to complete the package. The
previous owner had commissioned the team here at LMC to upgrade
this amazing documented LS6 with some modern aftermarket parts to
help improve the overall driving experience. The goal was for this
Corvette to retain its stock appearance on the outside while hiding
a serious upgrade in horsepower, suspension capability and braking
performance. The build started with a brand new 572ci GM crate
engine producing 620hp and 645 ft.lbs of torque. Induction is
handled by a FAST fuel injection system which hides underneath a
stock style breather and helps increase drive ability, cold starts
and performance. The engine breathes through a set of ceramic
coated long tube headers and exits the rear bumper through a
tig-welded stainless-steel custom exhaust. This stout powerplant is
backed by a 5-speed Tremec transmission with far better gear ratios
than the Muncie it replaces. With the massive upgrade in power, the
suspension and brake capabilities needed to be improved to help
keep this Corvette planted on the road. We looked to the suspension
experts at Detroit Speed who sent us their proven SPEEDRAY front
suspension kit and DECALINK rear suspension kit for the C3
Corvette. The system features 'Detroit Tuned' quick ratio power
rack and pinion steering along with forged USA Detroit Speed
aluminum uprights. The bolt-on powder coated cradle assembly
improves suspension geometry, provides rigid mounting for the rack
and pinion, and includes integrated tie down eyelets. DSE/JRi
'Detroit Tuned' Coilover shocks/springs allow for spring rate
tuning and ride height adjustment. It also includes a splined sway
bar with aluminum arms, composite bushings, powder coated tubular
upper and lower control arms with Delrin bushings, forged offset
upper control arm mounting brackets with caster tuner bushings to
optimize suspension geometry. Braking is handled by a set of
massive power-assisted Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners. The
big brakes are hidden behind a set of 17inch Rally wheels to give
this pro-touring machine a stock-style appearance. Included in the
sale are the stock components to return this back to its factory
production specification including the numbers matching LS6 engine
and 4-speed transmission. This Corvette is fully documented with
items including; original owner's manual, original protection
plate, original EPA sticker, DOT sticker, gas tank sticker, NCRS
Shipping Data Report, NCRS Judging Sheets, the NCRS Top Flight
Award Certificate. Also included are 1971 Corvette brochures, the
wheel trim ring instruction sheet, and the AM/FM radio manual. This
factory Corvette LS6 is a complete built Pro-Touring machine with
the capability and power of modern sports cars. It also is highly
collectible being 1 of only 188 factory LS6 examples ever built and
comes with its stock components if the next owner decided to return
it back to how it left the factory. Additional Details: 1971
