There are plenty of Mopars that like to wow you with their
outrageous presentation, but this 1971 Dodge Charger SE goes in a
different direction. It's quite period-correct, and it has a great
premium V8 coupe style right down to the vinyl top and A/C
interior.
There's a boldness to a coupe finished in Hemi Orange, and so this
one has a head-turning style you want in a Mopar. And these
Chargers really knew how to attract eyeballs in 1971. They were
redesigned for this year to really emphasize a road-owning style.
The long hood, graceful fastback roofline, and integrated rear
spoiler look terrific. In fact, they look especially nice on this
example that has such straight sheetmetal. This was built right
before the bumper laws dictated style, and so you have some of the
most impressive ones ever put on a car. Up front the chrome king
surrounds the grille and frames the hidden headlights, and in the
rear, it's expertly integrated into the design on the sheetmetal
and taillights. There are even cool details, like how the black
trim strip coordinates with the premium black vinyl top.
The black roof is also a preview of the full black interior. This
has a terrific mix of preservation and restoration. That's how you
get leather/vinyl bucket seats with the classic button-top pattern
as well as fresh/plush carpeting. Even the dash looks good under
the protective pad. As a true vintage and premium machine, you get
plenty of wood-like trim, but a good Charger is also a great
driver's car. So you have a three-spoke steering wheel,
driver-oriented center console, and round gauge package with large
speedo and tach. These might have been Dodge's intermediate coupes
back in the day, but today that means seating up to five in
complete luxury. This comfortable cruiser attitude is also why you
have well-integrated upgrades like a AM/FM/CD/cassette stereo under
the dash and air conditioning blowing cold with modern R134a
refrigerant.
This was born a 383 cubic-inch V8 car, and so it's good to still
see that displacement with an era-correct block under the hood. It
has all the right details, like the bold block, Magnum callout air
grabber, and factory-style decals. This motor is all about
smoothness and torque, making it the perfect vintage cruiser. Plus,
with a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and
front disc brakes, you'll truly have an easy time behind the
wheel.
The sale comes complete with a long maintenance file and the
owner's manual. This is your chance at a cool V8 Mopar loaded with
all the best features for an awesome cruiser. Call today!!!
