Hendrick Motorsports Chassis #48-287 is a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was raced by seven-time NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson. This Lowe's #48 race car competed in the 2003 Save Mart 350 Legendary Sonoma Raceway road course. After competition, the race car continued to help improve Hendrick Motorsports, serving as a road course test car during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Car #48-287 was built by Hendrick Motorsports SB2 358ci VS racing engine coupled to a race-spec 4-speed manual transmission. Putting the power to the pavement is a Hendrick Motorsports-designed 9-inch rear housing assembly with locking differential. The Hendrick engineered heavy-duty suspension and brake system is built to handle the rigors of the most demanding racetracks on the circuit.
