Vehicle Description
1966 Chrysler Newport 2 Door Hardtop with Numbers Matching Original
383 engine and Extremely Rare factory original 3 Speed Column
Mounted Manual Transmission! Only 270 of these 383 - 3 speed manual
transmission cars were built, most were sedans, and according to
Chrysler Group LLC, this was the ONLY Red 2 Door Hardtop built with
a 383 and a 3 speed manual transmission! In other words, this is
the only one like it in the world. (1 of 1). It is a low option car
- having only a Radio, Antenna, Bucket Seats and Fender Skirts, as
shown on the original fender tag which is still in place and shown
in the photos! The original Certicard is still in the car, in its
original holder as when it was new. I have owned this car for
almost twenty years. This is a very straight car, and according to
historic reports I received when I bought the car, it has never
been wrecked, and it wears very straight all original body panels
all around, including ALL floors and trunk panels, which are
rust-free after 55 years! The car is all original except for a 15
year old high-quality repaint in the original color. The paint is
good, except for some clearcoat starting to peel. There is very
minor rust above the left rear fender skirt and behind the right
rear wheel (see photos). Look how straight these original body
panels are! This car has only been driven 119,000 actual miles from
new. The interior is original, with patina, and could use some
reupholstery. Legendary Interiors carries reproduction interior
parts in this color. A new headliner (not yet installed) goes with
the car, as well as new armrest backing plates and new carpet. You
can decide to do those things, or drive and enjoy it with the
patina that it has from 55 years of enjoyment. Recently had 4 new
tires installed, replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, cleaned
all the fuel lines and rebuilt and restored the gas tank, rebuilt
all 4 brake wheel cylinders and replaced the master cylinder,
replaced plugs.
