When looking for a distinctive vintage truck, it's hard to beat
this 1980 Jeep J10 Honcho. Aside from rarity, you get a tough 4x4
pickup that's ready for work duty. And when you see all the
features, including the fuel-injected V8 and overdrive
transmission, you realize this checks all your boxes for a standout
classic .
The J10 didn't have the same production numbers as The Big Three,
so while Ford's F-Series was developing into one of the
best-selling vehicles in the USA, this was ensuring rarity with
only about 8.5k built in 1980. These keep the premium face of the
Waggoneers, but this one certainly has its own flair. The grille is
darker, and that goes well with the front bumper, air dam, upgraded
tubular rear bumper, and cool bed bars. The bed is done in black
both for coordination and to also make it easy to use for real
truck hauling. In fact, you'll spot plenty of useful features, like
the tie-down hooks, trailing mirrors, and a proper trailer hitch.
And it all looks distinctive against the bold red, which was
resprayed this year. It has a nice gloss to show off the extra
curves of this rarer stepside truck, but don't let that distract
you from enjoying this 4x4 to the fullest. The current owner had
this one painted and said the original paint and decals were still
in the jambs even after all these years. Therefore, we do believe
this is a real Sportside Honcho.
The J10's interior was built to be comfortable. It starts with a
pair of bucket seats with a fold-down middle jump seat, a wide
Wagoneer-style dash, and a classic sliding rear window. Plus, you
have upgrades like auxiliary readouts, cup holders, and an AM/FM/CD
stereo w/USB input for your phone. And the grippy Lecarra steering
wheel gives you a nice view to the machine-turned gauge panel.
The engine bay has a familiar look, but not one for Jeeps. It's an
upgraded 350-cubic-inch LT1 V8. This fuel-injected powerhouse built
a legendary name in vehicles like the C4 Corvette, and so it's a
nice power upgrade here. The installation has a professional
appearance, and you can really understand the quality by the way it
fires up and runs. Plus, Edelbrock headers and Flowmasters on the
dual exhaust make for a terrific V8 note. The upgraded motor is
mated to a correct four-speed automatic transmission with a handy
overdrive. Power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a limited
slip rear make a solid all-around driver. And of course, this still
lives up to a go-anywhere Jeep reputation. It's a true 4x4 that
includes Ranchero shocks and newer Toyo Open Country A/T tires.
Rare, powerful, and filled with the right features, this is the
classic Jeep offered for quite a nice price. So if you love a
distinctive pickup, don't let this one slip away. Call today!!!
