Vehicle Description
The 1980 Jeep CJ5 is one rugged machine. This is a lifted 4x4 with
beefy accessories, and it's presented in the kind of outdoor-ready
look that gives the classic CJ an everlasting appeal. And when you
see the big investment in fuel-injected V8 power, you'll know this
is a go-anywhere machine that really has the muscle you want.
This Jeep was given a full body-off restoration in 2017. It was
done by the masters at CJ Jeep Builders, and there was a $23k
investment in just the parts and labor. The result is a mean
machine with the components to back up its intimidating style. This
attitude starts with the paint. Black is always great when you want
to be a bit more aggressive, but this really turns it up a notch.
It's rugged bedliner paint. It was done with a professional hand to
make sure it looks equal parts tough and stylish. The black is also
tasteful against the premium Laredo silver graphics as well as
polished pieces like grille, bumpers, rockers, and upgraded hood
clamps. Plus, the bright 15-inch Pro Comp wheels add to the flair
and the off-road prowess. And speaking of off-road ability, you can
see this one has all the right pieces, like the lifted suspension,
side steps, fender flares, full size spare, and 9500lbs Smittybilt
winch that's designed to get you and everyone else out of
trouble.
The black theme continues inside with the same thoughtfulness as
the exterior. So while this has a rugged look, it also doesn't miss
out on the right features to keep you happy. That's why you have a
newer set of Corbeau high-back bucket seats with good bolstering, a
tilt steering column, an armrest center console, deep/rugged floor
mats, and Corbeau rear bench for guests to come along for the fun.
While this one was made for the outdoor lifestyle, there's also a
bikini top that stretches over the roll bar for those times when
you want to keep the sunshine off your shoulders. There's even a
set of soft doors that can come with the sale, too. And probably
our favorite part of the build is the dash. It has a very stock
style at first glance, but soon you realize that the gauges are an
upgraded set that include a digital odometer and handy tach. And
the radio is a retro-style unit that has modern Bluetooth and
upgraded stereo speakers.
The 360 cubic inch V8 nestled under the hood has a very clean look,
because it was all part of the big restoration investment. We love
the tidy black appearance that includes the powder coated intake,
Edelbrock air grabber, and matching finned valve covers. Plus, it's
a well-built package with an Edelbrock intake, custom headers, and
topped with a FiTech fuel-injection system that adds power and
consistency to this already hardy motor. You'll even spot good
supporting components, like the electronic ignition, Powermaster
alternator, Optima battery, and an aluminum radiator with dual
electric fans. The mighty V8 fires up readily and has the sweet and
powerful rumble of a nice cam. And you get full control thanks to
the four-speed manual transmission. This is has been built to be a
quality 4x4, and so you have the right pieces, like a Dana 300
transfer case, Dana 30 front axle, AMC 20 rear, two-inch body lift,
one-inch suspension lift, and a wide set of BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain
T/As. Plus you have a good feeling for all-around control thanks to
power steering, power brakes, front discs, and newer polyurethane
bushings.
Complete with Build receipts and Service manuals, this CJ5 has a
