1937 Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood Limousine
In an effort to appeal to the luxury car market during the troubled 1930s, Cadillac created the Fleetwood line of cars starting with the 1936-37 production. This model of car enjoyed an extremely long run, lasting 62 years as an option in the Cadillac line-up. In pre-war and post-war car production, this model of car was the top-of-the-line Cadillac and was Cadillac's factory built limousine offering.
Having been delivered to a Funeral Home in Idaho back in 1937 and put into service, this 1937 Cadillac was a one family owned car up until just a few years ago! The car was in service with the Family business up into the 1960s, when it was "retired" from use. The Family kept ownership of the car, changing the color in the late 1960s to it's current Cream hue. In addition, at some point in its history, the car did receive new upholstery.
The exterior shows wear consistent with it's age. While the body is in good overall condition, some paint can be seen missing. The car is still very presentable after 60 years! The vinyl running board mats are likely original to the car and all chrome components appear to be present and likely original, with most pieces displaying pitting.
The interior upholstery was replaced and presents well. The headliner appears to be original to the car as do the wood accents around the windows. The compartments in the rear of the front seat add a nice touch to the luxury of this car.
Mechanically the cars runs and drives as expected for a 1937 Cadillac! The engine is a 346 cu in Monobloc V-8 with the distinctive flathead design. The engine is from a later model Cadillac, with the block original to the car available. The engine is mated to a 3 speed synchromesh manual transmission.
