Vehicle Description
We love GM cars touched by SLP, because they know how to add
performance and do it in small batches. That's why you should get
excited about this 1996 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Comp T/A. It's a
low-mileage sports car modified by SLP under the blessing of GM,
and the affordable price will make you do a double-take on a coupe
that's only 1 of 164 ever made!
The Comp T/A is a pretty cool car. They only came in Bright Silver
Metallic, because they were celebrating the 25th anniversary of the
BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires. So now you understand the car's special
name and color. And you probably also understand why the special
racing stripe almost looks like a burnout with its cool black fade.
Other exterior details that tell you this is something special are
an upgraded set of 20-inch wheels and SLP's composite hood with
function cold air induction. It's presented on a good looking body
that has been enjoyed over the years, but when a car has averaged
less than 1,900 miles annually, you know it has been loved
responsibly. And the reason to hold it in high esteem is because
the history on these cars are exactly what you want. SLP's
additions were done under GM's authority, they did not void the
factory warranty and could be ordered through the right Pontiac
dealerships almost like a factory package. However, it was not easy
to get the right orders allocated to SLP, and therefore, the total
production is only believed to be 164 over a three-year run. This
example was so well favored that the consignor decided he wanted it
back, and so he's both the 2nd and 4th owner on record!
The graphite gray interior goes well with the silver exterior, and
the T-tops mean you can show off this full package to the world.
Plus, cold-blowing air conditioning means you can keep this open to
the world even in the summer without breaking a sweat. This special
T/A also came loaded with the best factory features, like power
locks, keyless entry/alarm, power windows, cruise control, a cup
holder center console, dual airbags, power steering, and a
four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive. The leather bucket
seats up front look great, and they have power lumbar support to be
all-day comfortable. That combines with the sports steering wheel
on a tilt column and full gauges to make for a great driving
package. SLP modified these T/As from the start, and so making the
right additions on top of that seem both correct and tasteful. The
interior upgrades the performance skill with a well-done roll cage,
and the overall driving experience is upgraded with the AM/FM/CD
stereo that features Bluetooth and a subwoofer speaker system.
SLP worked their magic on the 5.7-liter LT1, including the air
induction and high-flow exhaust for an advertised 310 horsepower in
2006. Plus, not only did SLP upgrade the handling, but the included
spec sheet shows some terrific extras, including the Bilstein shock
package. And because this is built to be a sharper T/A, you will
see this goes even further with additional upgrades like subframe
connectors, Hotchkiss front strut bar, and rear adjustable airbags.
Add in four-wheel power disc brakes and this is a fun performance
machine that's also an all-around good driver.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, title
documentation, and maintenance records. In fact, we have an invoice
for over $3,500 documenting major servicing within the last few
years to help prove how this has remained a well-respected coupe.
