Vehicle Description
It's obvious that GM built 1/2 ton pickups like this 1995 GMC
Sierra 1500 with utility and practicality in mind, but they
certainly didn't forget about style. Sure, it's still a rugged
truck underneath, but on the outside it's one of the best-looking
trucks ever built. Add in the slick red paint job, custom ostrich
interior, and built LS V8 that constitute this beauty, and you've
got one of the cooler modern Restomod trucks we've ever featured
here at Streetside. Elevated into something truly special, this
'new' classic pickup is ready to dominate for decades to come.
This truck's sleek, monochromatic look comes from careful blending
of bright red paint with careful aftermarket parts like the
color-matched grille and front bumper, chin spoiler, rear roll pan,
painted mirrors and handles, and blacked-out 20-inch wheels that
set the pickup's aggressive stance. 1995 was the last year you
could get an extended cab this big without at least one hinged
door, and with all the 4-door trucks on the road today, it's nice
to see a throwback to the way that things used to be. That
super-long cab design on this SLE model really makes the truck look
imposing, even with the short bed out back. The finish work on the
resprayed Victory Red paint is very high-end, probably nicer than
what you'd get stock in the mid-90s, and the laser-straight
bodywork means it has always been someone's special truck. The
color is stock Victory Red, but with the addition of all those
color-matched components, no factory paint ever had a glow like
this - lit with an inner fire that is still low-key but draws you
in once you notice it. The effect is really quite appealing. Out
back, the bed was lined with black spray-in bedliner that really
looks great against the red finish, and also means that you can
still use this truck like it was originally intended. And there's
enough real estate back there to drag away half of Home Depot with
you on the weekends. Other neat touches include the big red GMC
emblem in the front grille, fresh headlights/taillights, and
limo-tinted windows that give the truck a mysterious disposition
that works great.
The C/K pickups were all fairly plain and straightforward in these
years, so the former owner of this '95 decided to kick things up a
notch with a custom gray interior to match the hot-red finish.
Flanking a matching center console, the seats have been covered in
custom light gray skins with ostrich inserts, a pattern that's
mirrored on the door panels and give the cab the upscale feel of a
luxury car and the look of a sports car - and it's all still in
great condition. The big stock steering wheel remains and
immediately reminds you that this is a modern truck, as do the
original gauges just beyond it, although an auxiliary unit was
added to the left to help keep a keen eye on the big motor under
the hood. The truck is outfitted with options like cold A/C, power
windows and locks, cruise control, and a tilt steering column, and
the entertainment system has been upgraded to a Pioneer AM/FM/CD
stereo head unit. It's still comfortable and easy to drive, pretty
much what we expect from our vehicles today, albeit with an
old-school grunt when you mash the gas. Out back, the rear bench
seat is very spacious for a trunk from this vintage, and it too was
covered in custom upholstery to match the front buckets.
Fully detailed and ready to go, the engine bay is as much a
show-off piece as a functional machine. The 5.3L V8 Vortec motor
rumbles like it has a modest cam inside, and you can definitely
feel added power up and down the throttle. A cold-air intake tube
and coned filter help the fuel-injected motor breathe, as do the
ceramic-coated headers at the sides that lead into a rumbling
Blackwidow exhaust system that exits just before the rear axle. The
modern serpentine drive system for the accessories keeps everything
tucked in tightly to the block and there's a big radiator up front
that keeps the whole show nice and cool. Underneath you'll find a
smooth-shifting 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission and a factory
10-bolt rear end, meaning that this truck can still work for a
living just as easy as it can cruise. Upgraded shocks and springs
set the wicked raked stance, and with power steering and power
front disc brakes you can expect a comfortable ride every time out.
20-inch US Mag wheels wearing Nitto performance radials finish off
the look, and we absolutely love how they play off the bright red
paint.
Still cool after all these years, GM has yet to top the slick
trucks of the mid-90s. With this one, you'll be the envy of every
cruise night you attend. Call today!
