2002 Chevrolet Camaro 35th Anniversary Coupe
This car came to us as a trade for another black 02 Camaro that was very low in mileage and LS powered Z28. Normally, I would not have been seriously interested in a V6 powered car, but then I learned more.
This car has the 200HP 3800 V6 engine for power. It is backed by the 5 speed manual transmission. So that means it is more fun to drive. The interesting facts are about the options. This had to have been a special order car. It has Z28 only rear axle 3.23 Posi-traction and Performance Suspension. It also has the Z28 16x8 Aluminum wheels with Z rated 245/50/16 Goodyear Eagle tires.
What helped me even more was the fact that this car was sold new and spent most of its life in Arizona. So there is no rust. It has been driven just over 94,000 miles and is in great original condition.
The paint looks great and shines brilliantly. There are few touched up areas and a ding. The interior is in great condition and shows all original components. This car must have been garage-kept, as the dash is in perfect condition and there is no faded of the upholstery. This is even more important because the car has removable tee-tops.
All features of the car work properly. It has cold Air Conditioning and working Cruise Control. All lights and gauges work as they should. The factory Monsoon stereo is still present and it works perfectly. All eight speakers were recently replaced, so they sound great. This car even has a factory installed CD changer. The sound system is controlled at the steering wheel. You will note that the glass is tinted and the rear has a defogger. Power windows and locks work perfectly. The remote controls work the door locks and rear hatch as well as actuate the Theft Deterrent System. This car even has dual power mirrors and a 6-way power driver’s seat.
So going back to my earlier statement, this car had to have been special ordered. Especially since it has “Z28 Only” options. The most recent owner dressed it with Z28 badges to signify this fact. You would think it was a Z28.
It is a mystery to me why the original owner didn’t want the LS engine. I doubt it would have consumed much more fuel. Who knows what the rationale was for ordering the car as it was ordered. Was it for a young driver? The result is a substantial price reduction due to the V6 engine while having a car that is still very fun to drive.
You will find this car to be in great condition. It has always received good care and that is evident. The tires are original and have about 16000 miles on them. A set of older Z28 wheels had been installed and were on the car when we got it. We installed the original wheels to bring it back to the correct appearance.
There are two sets of keys and two key fobs. The jack and spare tire are properly stowed. The CD changer contains the magazines for the disc. All features work properly. This car is ready to enjoy and display.
I wish it had LS power, but then the price would be substantially greater. The great options of this car, the low mileage and the fact that it spent most of its life in Arizona are what attracted me. It is a wonderful car that will impress you. Drive it daily or on occasion. No matter your choice, you will get lots of looks and for a minimal investment.
