Sale pending. Only 28,000 miles on this extremely rare and very
original "G" code Galaxie 500XL convertible. The durable 406 cubic
inch V8 engine with tri-power and solid lifters is teamed to a four
speed manual transmission. It's factory rated at 405 horsepower!
This engine was Fords response to Chevy's 409. The 352/390 FE block
was recast and strengthened for the 406 application with thicker
cylinder walls in addition to stronger internals, cast iron
headers, 2-1/2 inch exhaust, improved heads, high lift cam and as
mentioned solid lifters and tri-power carburation. The compression
ratio is 11.5 to 1. This may be the finest unrestored example to be
found. Its had one repaint in the original color of Heritage
Burgundy and the Light Rose interior is all original. The odometer
indicates 28,000 miles which is stated as correct by prior
ownership (title states exempt because of age). Most importantly,
the car condition reflects that of a low mile original car. It
runs, drives and performs excellent too! It was previously part of
the Tom Gerrard car collection in Blue Sky Montana.
