Vehicle Description

1981 Pontiac Trans AM, 400 engine with Fuel Injection, 77 front bumper, Great Paint!

Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1981 Pontiac Trans AM which is in fully restored condition and was built in the Resto Mod spirit.  This Trans Am features a nice black paint job with custom decals, a restored Camel vinyl interior, a rebuilt Pontiac 400 engine with added fuel injection, Classic Auto AC, and a rebuilt suspension.  This TA build started in 2017 and was finished in 2018 with over $15,000 spent on the build not including the paint and body work or the cost of the car.  A stack of receipts and service records come with the car documenting the build.  This Trans Am is overall very solid with great lines and gaps.  The underside is extremely solid with no rust or corrosion issues and no patches or repairs and was nicely undercoated.  This Trans AM is finished in the desirable color combinations of Black over Tan vinyl interior.

The Black exterior is in nice restored condition.  This Trans Am was treated to a repaint in 2017 in Starlight Black paint with new custom made decals.  This TA easily stands out from the pack and garners a lot of attention anywhere it goes.  The paint is in great overall condition and the body is overall solid and both bumpers are in good shape with no flaking or faded paint.  A new 77/78 style front bumper was added with new bumper grills and a new nose emblem was added as well, see receipts.  There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos.  The underside of this TA is wonderful and very solid with no rust issues or past repairs and was well undercoated.  The tires have nearly full tread left and are were fitted in 2018 and the 17" Ridler aftermarket wheels are like new and were added in 20148 as well.  All weather stripping and window sweeps are like new and were replaced.  Trunk is very solid and clean with the original style trunk mat.  The windshield and both door glass were replaced.

The Tan vinyl interior of this TA is in terrific restored condition.  The seat covers are in great condition with no major wear or fading or seam splits.  New seat foam was added for the front seats a few years ago.  The carpet was replaced and is in excellent condition with no major stains, rips, or holes.  The original dash is in excellent condition and the dash bezel is correct and looks beautiful in the car.  There are no cracks in the dash or fading.
The stereo works great and sounds good and was upgraded to a modern style CD/MP3 player.  The door panels were replaced are in like new condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact.  The headliner and package tray are both in great condition and were replaced. The headliner is the correct perforated material and is not sagging at all.  All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the cigarette lighter and the clock is not working.  Outside and inside lights were upgraded to LED's.  The PRM gauge was upgraded and the Speedometer was upgraded to a speedhut GPS digital unit.  The AC system was upgraded to classic auto air with new R134 freon and the system is properly charged and blows cold.  The power windows, all gauges, stereo, wipers, and blower motor all work.  This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.  The horn is not working.  Illuminated door sills and Phoenix halo under the doors operate only when the doors are open.

This TA is in great mechanical condition and the upgraded Pontiac 400 engine came out of a 1969 GTO.  This engine runs very well and has been upgraded with Edelbrock Estreet 2 electronic fuel injection system and distributor.  New gas tank with Tanks Inc. floatless fuel sender.  Stainless steel roller rockers were added along with new lifters and push rods.  A performance dual exhaust with Ram Air Manifolds was added a few years ago and gives this TA a true muscle car sound at idle and cruising speeds.  A new water pump, heater core, and alternator was sourced and the steering pump was rebuilt.  A new radiator was added and new belts and hoses.  The brakes were serviced with new pads, new MC, new brake booster, new lines and hoses.  A servo based cruise control system was added with controls by the power window switch.  The suspension was rebuilt including new QA1 front coil overs, new rear leaf springs, new sway bar and end links, and new body mounts.  We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, it rides tight, and is always a joy to drive.  This TA is much faster than stock and performs very well and runs strong and is very responsive.  In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good.  The brakes do not pull and stop as they should.  Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos.
