Vehicle Description
STK 2920 1978 International Harvester Scout II
The International Scout was created as a competitor to the Jeep CJ
series. Manufactured from 1961 through 1980, it was a predecessor
to the much more sophisticated SUVs of today. Second generation
Scout II models, produced starting in 1971, had distinguishing
exterior features including an updated front fascia. This 4-wheel
drive 1978 Scout II has received a full restoration. The body was
professionally re-sprayed original Concord Blue in 2020 and it is
an excellent 2-stage paint job. The full-length metal 'Traveltop'
has been refinished in White and the blue cloth/vinyl interior was
restored to better than original with high-back front buckets.
Dashboard, dash-pad, floor mats, door-cards are all in very good
condition and there is a full set of factory gauges. This classic
Scout is powered by what is said to be International's 345ci V8
fitted with a 2-barrel carburetor. We do not have a history of the
motor, but it appears to be 'as delivered' from the factory. These
engines were workhorses rated at 165hp and 292 lb/ft of torque, and
this one sounds very strong. It is backed by a 3-speed automatic
transmission and 2WH/4WH/N/4WL transfer case with manual front
hubs. The solid frame supports front/rear leaf spring suspension
and period-correct custom chrome wheels mount 15" Yokohama A/T
radials. The International is also equipped with power steering and
power disc/drum brakes w/dual master cylinder. Put this Scout in
your driveway and be the envy of your off-road friends. ALL
VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
