Vehicle Description
This 1979 Ford F-150 4x4 is exactly the right kind of truck we all
want. It has the right power with a big block under the hood; it
has the right look with an updated paint theme; and it has the
right comfort with the A/C interior. So it's great that this
classic pickup is also offered for the right price.
The silver paint was given a respray, and the attractive gloss
radiates in sunshine to highlight the crisp lines of the straight
sheetmetal. There are nice details, like the smoothed tailgate and
the color-matched grille that's exclusive to the 1978-79 trucks. It
makes for a quality look that's also thankfully not so fancy that
you'll be afraid of using this 4x4. And not only does it have a
good shine, but the details were nicely integrated. For example,
there's a full black pinstriping package. That goes well with the
black bumpers and handy liner paint in the bed. Step rails, tow
mirrors, and ProComp 15-inch wheels are all part of a package that
looks good while also knowing how to get to work.
The interior looks clean, simple, and vintage. The wide bench seat
is finished with a comfy cloth upholstery, and the dual-poke
steering wheel gives you a clear view to the factory gauges. So
this one has plenty of classic truck charm. You even have the
sliding rear window to get the right old school breezes through the
cab. But because this one also likes being comfortable for more
modern times, they did give you the right upgrades. The radio is
now an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input so you can have the latest in
driving music, and you'll always feel cool thanks to air
conditioning running modern R134a refrigerant.
Under the hood is proper big block power. Ford's mighty 460
cubic-inch V8 has a nice look with a big blue block, matching
Powered by Ford valve covers, and a bright air grabber. It inhales
deeply with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with a
nice V8 tune out of the dual exhaust. It fires up readily, idles
nicely, and shifts well with the three-speed automatic
transmission. A hardy powerhouse goes well with the go-anywhere
attitude of a 4x4 with a two-speed transfer case, lifted
suspension, and meaty General Grabber all-terrain tires. And the
full package is good for all-around driving with the power
steering, power brakes, and front discs.
Powerful, attractive, vintage, and comfortable - it's amazing you
can get all of this in a 4x4 pickup for such an attractive price.
