For Sale at Auction: 1912 Metz Roadster in Youngville, North Carolina
These early American automobiles were produced in Waltham,
Massachusetts by Charles Metz, who was a major bicycle
manufacturer. Just after the turn of the 20th century, Mr. Metz,
like many others at the time, tried his hand in car production.
This charming 1912 roadster is from the middle of the company's
production run. It is equipped with the 22 1/2 hp four cylinder
engine (hence the model "22" designation). Charles Metz's design
genius is found first and foremost in this car's friction drive.
This model in particular was considered lightweight, practical and
rugged in its day.
