Vehicle Description
This 1985 Mercedes 500 SEC was designed with three goals in mind :
Comfort, Speed, and Style. This S-class Mercedes checks all of the
boxes. Lets begin with Style. This Mercedes, with its long, low
construction and pillar-less cabin, is undoubtedly a great looking
vehicle. It was designed by famed Mercedes chief designer Bruno
Sacco as a sleeker and sexier version of the larger S-class luxury
sedans. The styling was certainly ahead of its time and is still
striking on the road today. The black paint on this example is in
excellent shape and has recently been professionally corrected. The
chrome wheels wrapped with tires perfectly complement the vehicle
and have tons of life left. All of the chrome trim on this vehicle
is in excellent shape. The interior is in similarly good condition.
The black leather seats and dash are without cracking, fading or
tears. All of the original Mercedes equipment works without issue.
This SEC is packed with all the features you would expect from an S
class Mercedes including : heated power-adjustable seats, sunroof,
and power retracting seat belts. Adjusted for inflation, this
vehicle sold new in 1985 for $138,000.
Under the hood you will find the M117 5.0L eight-cylinder engine
that has been incredibly well maintained. This 500 SEC has always
been serviced at the dealership and is in excellent mechanical
condition. The powerful V8 is mated to an 4G-Tronic automatic
transmission. The transmission works flawlessly and manages to
deliver a smooth yet responsive ride. This vehicle was designed to
cruise the German Autobahn at high speeds and it shows. It devours
highway miles with ease. The 5.0L engine produces plenty of power
and, for a large coupe, it is also surprisingly quick. It is very
comfortable to drive but feels firm and planted. The only thing
this Mercedes needs is a new owner to turn the key and enjoy.
