Vehicle Description
This 1950 Oldsmobile 88 has a cool style that keeps the look of an
honest classic. But this also has the right details that show off
some of the best features, including the OHV Rocket V8.
Olds really had a substantial car this year, and the brightwork is
a big reason. The bumper and grille dominate the front end on one
coherent piece. And there's just something extra special about
seeing the Oldsmobile globe logo. The side trim is pure art as it
starts at the headlight bezel and gently tapers into the door line.
And at the back wheel, the trim loves to accent the rounded fender
and wheel skirt. And speaking of fender trim, the taillights are
incorporated into a piece that complements the rear curves and
points the way to the tailfin era that was just around the corner.
And not only is this full style quite complete, but it's all
against the perfect shade of green that has a vibrant style without
looking out of lace in a 1950s machine.
There's plenty of room for family and friends inside. The two wide
bench seats have a classic style, but the comfy cloth upholstery
has the unmistakable feel of a fresher investment. The carpeting,
door panels, and headliner all share this style and quality. In
fact, there seems to have been a careful eye to making sure any
investments inside were about making this look good but continue to
feel vintage. You see it right down to details like the stand-up
spare tire in the finished trunk and the AM radio that's still
there for display. One piece that was thankfully not altered was
the steering wheel. It has the thin and classic feel of generations
that have come before you, and the Olds globe is still prominently
in the center.
We love that this has the 303 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. It was
the one that launched the Rocket era at Oldsmobile and was the
first mass-produced OHV V8. This is a terrific classic presentation
where we know you'll love pointing to that "Rocket" proclamation on
the bright valve covers. And even the correct green block is
distinctive. If you dig a little deeper, you'll see worthwhile
upgrades like the 12-volt system and electronic distributor. It
makes for a better cruising classic, and the way this fires up and
runs reaffirms it. Plus, you have great driving features, like the
Hydramatic automatic transmission, power brakes, and a modern tread
behind the classic whitewall style.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual and service
manuals. This is the Olds that looks like a cool cruiser, and it
runs strong to really back up that image. So don't miss out, call
