Vehicle Description
The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop is a rolling icon. So the only
way it can get better is when one has been given all the right
investments. That means extra power and extra comfort on a two-tone
coupe that never loses its vintage style.
It's hard to get more all-American than a '57 Bel Air hardtop. In
fact the red with white roof had the iconic appeal of a Coca-Cola
bottle. The paint has been part of this car's upgrades later in
life, and so both colors give you the kind of shine that will get
this coupe noticed from blocks away. There are some signs of
enjoyment, because after all, this is really out to be a driver's
classic. And you can really tell the overall level of respect it
has received along the way by the details, like the good seals and
the smooth operation of the big coupe doors. And of course, there's
the brightwork that shows off the best icons of the time. The fan
inserts to accentuate the tailfins; the trim that highlights the
pillarless hardtop profile; and the 1957 car has the exclusive
grille and bumper combo. There are great classic details, too, like
the correct gold emblems for the premium Bel Air, and the addition
of period-correct blue-dot taillights. Plus, the bright dual
exhaust tips and 15-inch Rally wheels are subtle ways to announce
this is an upgraded machine.
The first impression of the interior is a coupe that was nicely
restored to stock. After all, the red and black seats feel fresh,
and they are correct, right down to the cloth inserts, silver
piping, and button-top presentation. The door panels are done to
match. Plus, the black carpeting, red headliner, and smooth red
dash complete this well-coordinated and high-quality presentation.
But keen eyes will also spot the well-integrated upgrades that make
this classic a better modern driver. There's a retro-style AM/FM
digital tuner, upgraded speakers, front seatbelts, and provisions
for R134a air conditioning (it likely just needs a recharge to blow
ideally cold.) And the steering wheel has a classic look, but its
smaller diameter with a nice grip, and it's mounted on a tilt
column.
Under the hood is exactly what you want to see. The Tri Five Chevys
introduced us to small block power, but this one maximizes it for
modern times. It's a 350 cubic-inch V8 that has had a more recent
rebuilt. It includes upgrades like an Edelbrock four-barrel
carburetor, carb spacer, Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, and Doug's
headers feeding the upgraded full dual exhaust. We know this is the
kind of classic you want to drive everywhere, and so they made it
exceptionally easy. There's an aluminum radiator with an electric
fan to help keep this full upgraded package running cool. Plus, you
have a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power
brakes, front discs, and wide modern tires.
This is quite a thoughtful build of an amazing American icon. And
if you hurry, it all can be yours for quite a nice price. Call
