Vehicle Description
1935 Bugatti Junior Type 55 Go-Kart
The Type 55 is one of the ultimate road going Bugatti sports cars.
Built from 1931-35, it utilized pieces from Bugatti's Grand Prix
racers, including its chassis and its supercharged 2.3-liter double
overhead-cam V-8. Typically, good examples of these rare racers
sell in the millions.
For consignment a 1/3 version of the Classic 1935 Bugatti Type 55
in go kart form. Powered by a direct drive via chain, a 144cc Honda
engine puts out a whopping 3.5 HP. Bodywork is all lightweight
fiberglass and retains features that were fairly common on the
original version. Now you can really say you own a Bugatti!
Exterior
Two tone fiberglass is molded to 1/3 scale of the original with
somewhat overall lower proportions than the actual car. Still
though it looks great with its cowled hood, low profile swooped
down cockpit entry and corresponding exterior fender and running
board setup. It retains its shield styled chrome grille and
flanking single large head lighting mounted to a dissecting
horizontal bar. Red and black play with the lines of this car
adding some curvaceousness to the front and allowing the body to
take over for the remainder of the car all in deep black. Right
down to the glass windscreen with chromed holders this car speaks
of its heritage. Spoked wheels are open all 4 corners as well as
the rear mounted spare.
Interior
A center mounted large padded steering wheel sits in front of a
simple black dash with one toggle switch for the headlights. A red
tuck and roll bench is string on the metal floor and the gas and
brake are on the floorboard. A badge in the dash signifies this is
indeed number 519 of the 1500 built by Stimulations
Constructeur...bonsoir mon ami!
Drivetrain
Honda provides the 144cc 3.5 HP engine with a 1-barrel carburetor.
This car is direct drive without a clutch so it presumably will
take two to start the car...one to pull the starter when it's in
the air and the second to be seated for when after it starts to
press the gas and go upon the let down by the starter! The car does
sport mechanical brakes.
It's now or never, your chance to actually own a Bugatti, albeit a
replica go kart, it is much like the original and made in
France.
