This 1978 Chevrolet Corvette is a life-long Florida car that has
been given the right investments along the way. So you have added
shine from the paint, added comfort from the A/C interior, and
added pep from the numbers-matching V8.
This was the Corvette's 25th anniversary year, and the special
badging proudly announces it. While many of them celebrated with
silver cars, this one goes for another kind of distinction. It's an
original dark brown coupe, which was one of the rare colors in
1978. It still celebrates the silver anniversary with a little
added sparkle from a quality respray later in life that also added
a nice metallic element. The quality feeling continues with
well-fitting panels and pop-up headlights that work well. There are
even nice new details like the driver's door handle and tail
lights. It's the kind of overall appeal that comes from a the right
kind of care, and we understand why this one qualifies. It seems to
be a true local. It was sold new in the St. Petersburg area and
appears to have stayed in the Tampa Bay area all its life thus
far.
The factory-correct light beige interior is well preserved and
loaded. The right Corvettes of this era were about giving you a
comfortable grand touring experience. So you have leather bucket
seats, power windows, a tilt/telescopic steering column, electric
rear defogger, and an upgraded AM/FM cassette stereo. For the
driver, there's a comfortable three-spoke sports steering wheel.
Beyond that is the large speedometer and tachometer in front, and a
full gauge package prominently to the side. The T-tops really let
you open this coupe up to the world, and since the air conditioning
has been converted to modern R134a, feel free to do this long into
the summer season.
The engine is the original numbers-matching L-48 350 cubic-inch
motor. Just like the rest of the car, there have been investments
in the right pieces. So the V8 now has added pep from an Edelbrock
four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. But
since this is the original motor, the factory air cleaner, intake,
and carb also come with the sale for those who appreciate a full
vintage package. Of course, the way it's setup right now for added
power really enhances the open road experience. And it's easy to
enjoy thanks to great anytime driving features like the fully
independent suspension, a three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, and four-wheel power disc brakes.
The sale comes complete with owner's manual, title documentation,
and original warranty card showing how this is a true local. This
is a great classic that has been given the right investments for
both show and go. So it's time to grab a terrific Corvette deal.
