Vehicle Description
This 1981 Jeep CJ5 Renegade takes the rugged 4x4 attitude you love
and gives it the right subtle upgrades for added versatility,
flair, and power. It makes for an impressive icon that also likes
to have fun.
This is a factory black 4x4, but you can instantly tell there has
been a quality respray later in life. The result is a glossy finish
to add distinction when you're out on the town, but nothing too
fancy that will make you hesitate to get this Jeep onto the trails.
And we love the full silver/gray package laid on top. The Renegade
lettering and stripes seem to fade right into the black for a
thoughtful style. It also does a good job of coordinating with the
polished elements, like the grille shield, rocker trim, and 15-inch
American Racing wheels. It also has the best rugged features, like
the upgraded tubular steel front bumper w/push bar, matching rear
bumper, proper trailer hitch, full-size spare, and added
spotlights.
You have a full gray soft top and doors that look great with this
color package, but a Jeep is really meant to be open to the world.
So it's nice to see the same attractive gray and black look is
inside, too. As a proper Jeep, you have good outdoor-ready driving
features, like a padded roll bar and twin Tuffy locking boxes. But
this one also likes to be all-around more comfortable. The front
bucket seats have good bolstering, and there is a cup holder center
console in-between. You even have a bikini top when you want to
keep the sunshine off your shoulders. Plus, the radio is an
AM/FM/CD unit with Bluetooth and modern stereo speakers.
Jeeps legionary 258 cubic-inch inline six has a tidy style in this
engine bay. It not only means good maintenance, but also you'll be
able to spot the upgrades. The carb sits on a Clifford intake, and
the motor exhales with added power and authority as a split header
package gives you a true dual exhaust. You'll love the inherent
smoothness of this inline motor, and the four-speed manual
transmission gives you full control of it all. There are great
anytime driving features like power steering and power brakes
w/front discs. Plus, the two-speed 4x4 transfer case, tall ground
clearance, and BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A tires keep you gong long
after the pavement ends.
This Jeep delivers on the off-road prowess you love and the looks
that make it a legend. So don't miss this all-around great 4x4.
