this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this 1979 Corvette in
spectacular condition and with the high performance L82 engine and
only 29,445 original miles. This Corvette looks fantastic, runs
great, and is an excellent driver. The car is totally solid with
nice lines and no rust issues. The Corvette Light Beige (56) over
Light Beige (56) is a beautiful and highly desirable color
combination that looks great on the car. It is also the correct and
original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag,
which is pictured below. This Corvette is verified as an original
and correct L82 model by the fifth digit of the VIN, which is a "4"
indicating the L82 engine. A standard Corvette will have an "8" in
this spot.
This Corvette is ready to used and enjoyed. The low original
mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also
the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as
"Actual." Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other
information in this ad to get a true sense of how nice and clean
this L82 Corvette really is.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come
from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give
the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
Model Description
"The Corvette evolution continues" announced the slogan from the
1979 Corvette sales catalog. The L48 engine received the
dual-snorkel air intake introduced in 1978 for the optional L82
V-8, which added 10 horsepower. All Corvettes in 1979 now had the
high-back bucket seats introduced on the 1978 limited-edition
Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. A higher pivot point allowed the seat
backrest fold more flat and level with the luggage area floor,
which drastically improved access to the rear storage area.
Exterior
The Corvette Light Beige exterior is in fantastic driver condition.
As one can see in the photos the finish has a terrific gloss, deep
shine, and smooth finish. The rally wheels are in beautiful
condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The General
white letter tires are literally brand new with less than 20 miles
on them and are correctly sized 225/70R15. There are no major
imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the many
photos. There may be some very tiny imperfections around the car
that were too small to show up in the photos, but nothing else that
is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can
see in the many photos of the underside of the car, it is very
clean and this Corvette has no rust issues. The frame is totally
solid with no rust around the "key hole" are in front of the rear
tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the
windshield, which are the two most notorious spots for rust on a C3
Corvette.
Interior
The Light Beige interior in this Corvette is in excellent
condition. The seats are in excellent condition and look just as
good in person as they do in the photos with no excessive wear,
rips, or split seams. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the
lenses are clear. The carpet is great condition with no stains,
rips, or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often
neglected. The door panels are in nice shape overall with a couple
small nicks and, unlike many Corvettes of this age, they fit well
and tight to the door. The door pulls are solid and intact. The
dash and console look awesome with no cracks or sun fading. This
Corvette has not been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no
aroma of cigarettes.
Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well,
especially with a light color like Biege, and the excellent
condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the
meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its
life and another great verification of the very low original
mileage.
Mechanical
This L82 Corvette seems to be in excellent mechanical condition.
The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idle smooth.
It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds.
In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the
highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking
to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there
are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well
overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car.
The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.
The car runs cool and does not overheat. This Corvette has plenty
of power and is quite fast with a Chevrolet Goodwrench/Targetmaster
crate engine. The more modern crate engine has more horsepower and
should me more reliable than the stock engine. Also, the engine
compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the
photos.
The radio works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights,
indicators, wipers, and power windows. The blower works on all
speeds and the a/c also works and blows cold. One can observe the
a/c compressor clicking on and engaging properly in the video. The
power antenna works. The headlights go up and work. The power locks
work form only the right side. All of the gauges work with the
obvious exception of the clock. The car has a crisp shit and feels
like it has a shift kit. Not enough can be said as to how much of a
pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with extra power from
the crate engine and the T-tops out on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1979 L82 Corvette is in magnificent driver condition.
The higher performance and high horsepower models like this L82
always draw a premium over their standard counterparts. The low
mileage, the many great options, the beautiful original color
combination, and the great overall condition make this car
especially important and hard to duplicate. This Corvette always
gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is apparent that
the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The
prices of C3 Corvettes have increased considerably over the past
several years. They are secure and wise investments for a
collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years
and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal
effort.
