For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

With 1957 Bel Air convertibles being six-figure collectables and always one of the hottest segments in the collector car hobby, it takes a lot of guts and even more money to pull the gloves off, buck tradition and build a lights out resto-mod. But when you stand back and look at a car like this 994 out of 1,000 point show winner, you realize ignoring tradition and thinking outside the box definitely pays off. With a seamless Porsche Red body, a custom leather interior that's complete with both air conditioning and a modern sound system, and hot LS1 power that makes reliable cruising a breeze at ANY speed, this awesome rag-top is the kind of well-done custom that'll pick up trophies and tear up the road! There will always be super nice Bel Air resto-mods, but few tri-fives have this car's awesome combination of modern performance and classic style. If you're one of the many enthusiasts who's constantly torn between the cool virtues of a Friday night boulevard cruiser and the adrenaline rush of a Saturday afternoon curve carver, why not enjoy a little of both?

RED HOT

Professionally built without any regard for expense, this choice Bel Air convertible is chock full of marvelous craftsmanship. A no-compromises showpiece that combines everything great about classic Chevy design with time-tested technology, this Chevy's complete, frame-off restoration began with a 100% rust-free body. Once that body's panels exhibited a rock-solid factory appearance under precise fit and finish, their seams were filled with lead and their surfaces were bathed in a killer coat of Porsche Red two-stage. And the result is one rockin' tri-five hot rod which looks absolutely stunning and is sure to elicit double takes wherever it goes.

The '57 is certainly the most well-known of the tri-five Chevys with brilliant trim and crisp, retro styling that strikes a perfect balance between grandiose '50s bling and exaggerated '60s proportions. At the front of the car, a heavy bumper props a proper Bel Air grille behind a pristine Chevrolet crest and clear parking lamps. Above that crest, gold, Bel Air-exclusive gold hood ornamentation floats between requisite Speer Bullet Spoons and familiar hooded headlights. At the sides of the car, classic tri-five stainless anchors crisp Bel Air emblems behind gold Bel Air louvers and factory door handles. At the top of those strips, mirrored stainless mirrors correct mirrors, modern Raingear wipers and Saddle canvas that caps factory-style glass. And at the back of the car, angled antennas point toward peaked stainless, which bends to '57 Chevy-exclusive taillights that frame polished Borla tips, Bel Air-exclusive trunk ornamentation and a second heavy bumper.

CORVETTE POWER

Take a peek under this classic's rolled hood and you'll find a stout 5.7 liter LS1 Corvette V8 which produces solid power and effortless torque. Straight from GM, this fully-sorted package combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat top pistons to create razor sharp throttle response and lightning quick acceleration. At the front of the engine, a chromed serpentine system spins a chrome alternator and a chrome AC compressor at the sides of a polished air cleaner that's stamped with clean "LS1" lettering. That box breathes through an LS1 throttle body and a factory LS1 intake, which is bolted down over completely stock internals. High octane fossils are provided by a GM electronic fuel injection system. Sparks are sequenced through factory GM plug wires. Spent gases get whisked away by a slick pair of ceramic-coated shorty headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a heavy duty Griffin radiator that's complete with a chrome cowl, a polished overflow spry SPAL puller fans. And not a detail has been missed under this Bel Air's Satin Black hood, with niceties like chrome brake components complementing sleeved hoses and trick dipsticks.

ENJOY THE DRIVE

Under this sharp drop-top, a straight factory chassis reflects smooth, Satin Black paint against a backdrop of solid, Red Oxide floors. Speaking of smooth, the smooth engine twists torque through a trusty 4L60E 4-speed. Holding that road ready powertrain in place is a fully-sorted suspension, which includes tubular control arms up front, correct leaf springs out back and Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks at all four corners. Modern turning characteristics are provided by Concept One power steering. Short, confident stops come courtesy power-assisted Wilwood calipers, which cinch a total of 20 pistons around a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. At the center of the floor, 2.5-inch exhaust shoots spent gases through hearty Flowmaster Hushpower II mufflers. And power meets the pavement through a sweet set of 17-inch Foose Nitrous wheels, which spin 245/45 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports in front of 255/45 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports.

RIDE IN STYLE

Hit the button for the car's remote keyless entry and you'll find a plush Saddle leather interior that was stitched front to back without any regard for busting the budget on time or cost. Rebuilt bench seats are all-day comfortable. A curvaceous dash, detailed with traditional tri-five stainless, cages clean Classic Instruments telemetry next to controls for Vintage Air conditioning and a glovebox-mount Custom Autosound head unit that bumps integrated Pioneer speakers. Custom side panels look great between bright toppers, billet handles and power-operated windows. The driver spins a polished and Saddle-tinged steering wheel around a tilting column. And behind the cockpit, a remote activated trunk stacks more customization around a hidden Custom Autosound CD changer.

Logging sunny weekend miles since its detailed restoration, this Bel Air is the kind of car that's fun to both cruise and show! Call, click or visit https://www.RKMotors.com for more information.
