1938 Ford Delivery was custom built. John wanted this in
remembrance of some younger days. Many know that we had a family
trucking business for over 36 years. But as the story was told by
John, (many times) his early entrepreneurial days were both
"fruitful" and almost arresting. When John was 13-14 years old he
had an old model "A" truck he would use. He would drive it to
Portland to the produce market early in the morning and haggles for
his wares for the day. Then he would drive towards the coast and
set up his stand. He soon had regular customers that watched for
him so they could get their fresh strawberries, fruit and produce.
One particular place he stopped was a place in Astoria now
alternate Hwy 101. One of John's regular customers was the sheriff.
One day the sheriff stopped by and regrettably told John about a
complaint by a local businessman. The sheriff said how he just had
to follow up on it and needed John's drivers license to put on the
paperwork. John stalled a bit and handed him his drivers permit.
The sheriff said "no, I need to see your license". John looked at
him wanting to just get out of there. Please Note The Following
