Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Wow! 11,000 miles! Unrestored, one-family owned
Amphicar never before offered for sale since new! This Amphicar is
in well-preserved original condition, on consignment from the same
family that purchased it new.
BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this Amphicar is one of the best things
about it. It's solid, mostly straight, but does have some dings,
dents, and minor repairs that tell a story and show where it's
been. For a 54-year-old car that hasn't been restored or even fully
repainted, we are amazed at the condition of the body.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The Beach White paint appears to be
original on nearly all of the car, save for some obvious areas
where touchups and repairs have been performed over the years. It
still has a good shine on it, though a careful, professional buff
may bring additional luster to it. There are some minor chips and
stains to be found here and there, but keeping in mind the age of
the vehicle this paint is in great condition.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: Getting inside this Amphicar
is....confusing. It's not hard to get into or anything, it's just a
little odd to step into a car only to suddenly feel like you're
sitting in a boat! Much like the exterior, the interior is in
surprisingly good condition for the age of the vehicle. The seat
material is intact and in nice original condition, and even the
door panels and original floor covering are nice! There are some
minor imperfections and signs of age here and there, but at well
over 50 years old this car has earned the right to show its
age.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood is what is believed to be the
original Triumph-sourced 1147cc 4-cylinder engine. This engine puts
out roughly 43HP, and runs well with a very Triumphant sound. This
car is also said to have most of its original rubber, including the
tires. The brake hoses are the only known replaced rubber items on
this car. The tires are Holland-made Vredsteins, and if they aren't
the originals they are surely close to it. Even under the hood and
underneath the amazing originality continues!
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: It's a car, it's a boat, it's a
convertible! What's not to love about a funky, rare,car/boat? This
thing is a conversation starter!
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: If you don't like highly
original cars, or being approached about the unique vehicle you're
driving, this probably isn't the one for you.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? That really depends on what you want to do
with it. Want to drive it? It will need a few things that are
needing replaced I.E. tires and belts. However, want to show it, or
add it to a collection? It's ready for that as it is!
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? If you're looking for a car
that is also a boat, look no further!
