For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Here at RK Motors Charlotte, we sell the most exclusive collector cars in the world seven days a week. But every now and then we still get classics that 1) we rarely offer and 2) are just a ton of fun to own. In fact, when we first saw this awesome 1957 Nomad pull in to our showroom, all we wanted to do was jump behind the wheel and head for the closest beach. And since this Chevy has been fully restored, equipped with a hot small block and fitted with a cushy interior that's bigger than some people's bedrooms, it was more than willing to make the trip. Both rare and highly desirable, this timeless, all-American rig is one of the coolest people movers on the planet! And whether you're a diehard Chevy fan, a wagon enthusiast or just someone who wants to drive something not often seen, it'll have you dreaming of good times and great friends!

THE HOT WAGON

The second-generation Bel Air represented a massive departure from its predecessors. A low, sleek profile replaced the first gen's carried-over, 1940s lines, officially marking the arrival of the "Hot One". This Nomad retains much of its factory charm thanks to what appears to be a largely rust-free life that was devoid of catastrophic events. When the time came for restoration, the car's solid panels were massaged flat in preparation for striking red and white two-stage. And not only does that highly polished pigment present well from all angles, it provides a rolling testament to top notch metalwork and years of stellar care.

Detailing begins with a polished, body-width bumper, which props a gold Bel Air grille behind a pristine Chevrolet crest and two clear parking lamps. Above that crest, Bel Air-exclusive header ornamentation rides between hooded tri-bar headlights and '57 Chevy-exclusive 'spear bullet and spoons'. At the sides of those lights, deluxe 'speed spears' float gold "Bel Air" scripts between small mirrors, guarded door handles, factory rocker trim and gold, Bel Air-exclusive fender louvers. At the top of those scripts, curvy stainless splits the difference between polished wipers and dark-tint glass. And at the back of the car, a second body-width bumper balances stylish LED brake lights at the sides of a wide tailgate that's finished with polished slats and Nomad-exclusive ornamentation.

SMALL BLOCK POWER

Follow this Bel Air's bright shine into its clean engine bay and you'll find 400 cubic inches of all-American small block that's ready to pose and poised to cruise! At the top of that proven Chevy mill, a finned and polished air cleaner feeds a coated Quick Fuel carburetor that's supplemented with a quick electric choke. At the base of that carb, a chromed Edelbrock intake feeds cast iron heads, which tilt finned and polished valve covers under stylized breathers. At the back of those covers, an aftermarket distributor fires sleeved plug wires, which snake around coated block hugger headers. Cooling is provided by a polished aluminum radiator, which hangs between spry SPAL fans and an aftermarket support. A stylish serpentine drive spins an aluminum water pump between a polished alternator and a polished AC compressor. A polished brake booster works well with a proven Wilwood master cylinder. And presentation is top notch, with strategically placed mirror accents reflecting items like trick dipsticks, a trick coil cover, a polished oil pan and polished hood hardware.

ENJOY THE DRIVE

Under this classy wagon, a straight and solid chassis stacks subdued Satin Black paint under solid, textured floors. Behind the engine, a dressed 700R4 4-speed spins a familiar GM axle. Cushy turning characteristics are provided by power rack-and-pinion steering. Confident stops come courtesy of power-assisted discs. A proven factory suspension has been upgraded with tubular control arms and modern coil-overs. Aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through throaty Flowmaster mufflers and polished bowtie tips. Power meets the pavement thanks to chrome Boyd Coddington blades, which spin 225/55ZR17 Falken Ziex and 235/55ZR17 Falken Ziex around trick bowtie stem caps. And, in old school road trip fashion, there's even a hitch to pull a travel trailer!

LEATHER, SPACE AND AIR

Depress the button on this Nomad's bright chrome door handle and you'll find custom leather digs that are both stylish and comfortable. Plush bench seats combine supple hides with body-matched belts and a foldable armrest that splits the driver and front passenger. Beneath those seats, tight carpet floats rugged Bel Air floor mats between billet sills and big Clarion speakers. At the edges of that rug, sculpted door panels anchor flowing armrests between billet handles, bowtie lockers and small switches for modern power windows. Above those panels, traditional chrome bows highlight a tight tan headliner. A billet-trimmed dash props Dakota Digital VHX telemetry above a traditional tissue box and components for modern air conditioning. And the driver spins red and black grips around a chromed steering wheel that laps billet pedals and a tilting column.

Restored and ready to hit the road, this awesome Chevy is the perfect place to "See the U.S.A.". In recent years, Nomads have become extremely popular as more and more tri-five enthusiasts look for new ways to ante up and stand out. If you're looking for a cool collector car that's as functional as it is handsome, you're looking at your hot ticket!
