Vehicle Description
1978 Ford Ranchero - Headers, New Dual Exhaust, Hei Dist, more... I
have owned this car for approx; 4 years now. Previous engine was
junk so I removed it. It also was a 351W. Had a junky intake with
an old delco 2 barrel. I had the radiator chemical treated and
flushed. Engine swap over from a 77 Thunderbird with 62,000 miles -
Ranchero reads 78,000 miles. It has the 351 Windsor engine. Block
and heads was painted mustang/ford blue. Electric windows, cruise
control. Had headers added with brand new dual exhaust. New water
pump, thermostat, and gaskets. Timing chain, some new belts and
hoses also. Took all the smog and ac off. Got rid of the old two
barrel and the old intake. Upgraded to a high rise with a 600 cfm
carb. I got rid of the old distributor system and upgraded to an
HEI. New plugs and wires. The engine picture Does Not Illistrate
all of the engine upgrades. It was only after the initial engine
swap but more things have been done since. I will add or send pics
per request. Some old break lines was replaced. I have all the
receipts. The car is in good running condition. I would drive it to
California and back with no worries. As of right now the interior
does need some work. Seat has a rip and a few dash cracks. The
truck has heat, all ac parts was taken off. Easy enough to reverse
if one was so inclined. Parts would have to be purchased though.
The windshield needs replaced. It has a sizable crack. There is a
shop that quoted me under $300 to replace. There is a large dent in
the tail gate - but the tail gate closes like new. There is a
custom truck cap that goes with it. Some small rust through at the
bottom of fender and quarters but is very repairable. See pictures.
