For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Body off frame restored about 12 years ago. California built 210 with Bel Air trim added. Done up like an old school hot rod with dual quads, 4-speed and vintage style gauges.

EXTERIOR: I'm standin next to it admiring how good it looks. The Tropical Turquoise color, those polished wheels and the stance are all great. The body looks clean and straight, I don't see any signs of rust, bubbles or damage. The paint is gorgeous and has polished glossy finish but there are some flaws if you look for them. There's some nicks touched up. The chrome and trim is exceptionally nice. Up front it all sparkles like new- the bumper, hood trim, grill bar, headlight bezels and the rockets on the hood. The emblems are new. The rubber pointed tips were upgraded with chrome. It has the optional dual mirrors, door handle guards and the correct antenna, they all look new. New Bel Air trim was added on the sides, the moldings around the windows look new. In back the bumper, taillight housings and emblems were replaced. The windshield was replaced, the other glass is very nice. The door jambs are painted very nicely, weatherstrips were replaced. New 15 inch polished American Racing wheels with spinners, they are wider in the back. It also has fatter tires in back.

INTERIOR: Very nicely restored inside. On the the floor it has good carpet, reproduction mats and a new Hurst shifter for a bench seat. The seat feels firm, correct reproduction upholstery and matching door panels. New handles and armrests. The cloth headliner, visors welting around the doors was replaced. The metal trim and dash were repainted turquoise, the stainless trim looks new. It has a set of gauges below the dash and a vintage style tachometer on the dash. A retro stereo fits right in the factory hole, it has auxiliary plug in the glovebox and kick panel speakers. A beautiful custom wheel is mounted on a chrome tilt column. The coolest feature of all is the vintage gas pedal shaped like a foot!

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The 265 motor runs strong strong. Recently added a new Edelbrock intake and dual quad Edelbrock carbs. It has premium fuel lines and fittings with pressure regulator. New Flamethrower ignition system and a new set of coated Hedman headers. It is dressed up real cool with some finned aluminium valve covers and breathers. Has chrome alternator. It runs cool with new fan, shroud, hoses, aluminium water, radiator and overflow bottle. All new power steering system recently added. Upgraded dual reservoir master cylinder. Everything is painted up real nice, wires are run neatly, the hinges are clean.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Solid metal trunk compartment painted turquoise. The bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are glossy. The battery was relocated to the trunk and is mounted down properly. New weather strip and rear seat divider. The trunk mat is in good shape, it does have some tears.

UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame for a thorough restoration. The underside is solid metal that was painted gloss turquoise. The chassis is semi-gloss black. The front end was apart and the components look good. It was recently upgraded with front disc brakes. Looking up at the motor it is clean Chevy orange. Starter looks fresh, has correct canister type oil filter and a flywheel cover. It was recently converted to a 4-speed. It has a Muncie, the linkage, trans mount are all new. The fuel system was replaced including the tank, straps, lines etc. It has a new custom exhaust with crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. It's not a brand new build but you can see many parts were replaced- body bushings, u-joints, brake lines, shocks etc.

This is an all around great package. It has the looks, quality and performance without spending a fortune!
