This 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL has the look of a big and premium
coupe. But what really makes this one desirable is you get to lift
the hood and show off V8 power with a triple-deuce on top.
The Galaxie 500 XL like this was sporty, formal, and premium all
rolled into one. The sweeping side trim and afterburner tail lights
were positively jet-inspired. And the factory-correct Rangoon Red
was resprayed later in life by an even hand to give this a bright
and speedy look. There are also elegant design touches, like how
the curve of the outer headlights became part of the fender line.
The hardtop profile has a formal roofline, complete with insignia
trim and a Corinthian White top for a two-tone style. It all comes
together to make for an overall sharp-looking coupe with a broad
appeal.
A great reason to keep all the windows down on this pillarless
hardtop is so that people can get a good view at the well-done
interior. And just like the exterior, the inside is a mix of
vintage premium and performance. There's a freshness in the
fundamentals, including the door panels, carpeting, and dash pad
that make this inviting. And we especially love how the seats feel
almost like brand new, and they are complete, right down to the
trim. So a full-size Galaxie has the room to really share this with
family and friends, and this one also has the presentation that
will impress them. But even when it's just you, this one is a great
place to spend some time. After all, the up-market XL gives you
front bucket seats and console in-between. And this has a sporty
feeling with everything from the floor shifter to the
machine-turned trim on the dash.
Under the hood is a well-done presentation of Ford 330 cubic-inch
V8. The engine bay has the look of performance with the polished
Edelbrock valve covers, bright Accel plug wires, and the
Cobra-style air cleaner. And underneath the long air grabber is a
triple set of dual-barrel carburetors. Not only do you have a
desirable triple-deuce setup, but also Edelbrock aluminum heads.
That's the kind of setup that really gives this Galaxie 500 XL the
potential to become a very cool executive express. But more than
just a powerhouse, this has the right cruising features. The smooth
shifting three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and
modern Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires to keep this comfortable going down
the road.
This is the cool vintage hardtop that has plenty of premium style,
and a V8 with a great muscle car flair. So it makes for a great
package that you need to get your hands on right now. Call
