For Sale: 2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 in JEFFERSON, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 35th Anniversary Coupe

I feel quite fortunate to have had the opportunity to purchase this car.  I made contact with the man who owned it just out of pure luck.  He had not advertised it, but admitted that he had not been driving it and that he needed both money and garage space.  The timing was good and we worked out a deal.

We lived a good distance apart and he was willing to drive part of the way to save me from an overnight trip to get the car.  He was willing to drive the car to meet and that told me he was confident of it being safe and road worthy.

Having only been driven 21,500 miles should give anyone confidence.  Now that I have enjoyed the opportunity to drive it, I will assure you that it is definitely road worthy and safe.  In fact, all features on this car function properly.  There are two sets of keys, two key fobs, Owner’s Manuals, maintenance receipts and proper jack and spare.  This car is in stock condition, never messed with and is in full display of the low mileage and good care it has received.  I am having thoughts of driving it myself for the summer.

This car was sold new in South Carolina.  When it had been driven just over 5000 miles it was stolen.  The insurance company paid the owner for the total value of the car.  Due to it being claimed as a total loss, the title was marked as “Salvage”.  After the undamaged car was recovered, it went into the Insurance Pool and was auctioned to a dealer in Pennsylvania.  The Pennsylvania dealer then applied for, and received, a “Reconstructed” title.  When the car was sold to a Michigan man, the Michigan brand on the title is “Rebuilt Salvage”.

While it sounds like the car was “rebuilt”, it was not.  It was simply inspected by the State Police and the new title was issued.  I have looked the car over very closely and there is not a sign of any repairs.  We had another dealer due a search and his program indicated the same story that I was told by the man who sold it to me.

What we have now is a car that is close to 20 years old and only has 21,500 miles on it.  It is in great condition and really needs to be enjoyed.  It is very original and has not been modified with the exception of two modifications:  the windows have been professionally tinted and there is an extra set of wheels and tires.  The original wheels and tires are with the car.  They were used for the first 17,000 miles.  The second set of tires only have 4000 miles on them and are mounted on very nice Corvette chrome wheels.  The original tires are Goodyear Eagle RSA 245/50/Z16 and the new tires are Michelin Sport A/S Plus 245/45/Z/17.  You won’t need to buy tires any time soon.  The battery is also new.  I believe every other part on this car is factory original.

This is the last year of the Camaro before the hiatus.  The next new Camaro was built in 2010.  The powertrain of this car is highly sought after.  The 5.7 liter fuel injected LS1 is a great engine for both performance and economy.  A sporty car like this deserves to have a manual transmission.  The six speed in this car offers the fun of shifting and double overdrive for low rpm highway cruising and great fuel economy.

You will stop well with four wheel power boosted ABS disc brakes.  Power steering makes for great fingertip control.  You will find Cruise Control, Air Conditioning, Tilt steering column and Power Seat.  The windows, door locks and hatch release are also powered.  This car has AM/FM/CD stereo with steering wheel controls.  There is a rear window defogger and fog lights.  The front seats recline and fold forward, the rear seatback folds flat.  A compartment in the rear well holds the Tee-tops.  The leather upholstery is Graphite with matching carpet and original floor mats.

The body is very straight.  I don’t see any dents or dings.  There were just a few very tiny stone chips that have been touched up.  All of the glass is good.  The front valence is not damaged.  The wheels have no curb rash.

What you are buying here is a very, very nice Z28 with the desirable powertrain, low mileage and no modifications.  This car has been adult owned and driven.  I am certain it was garage kept for the last 10 years and have the belief that it has always been garage kept.  The weather seals are perfect, as it the dash and hatch area.  You know what sun exposure would do to these areas.  I doubt it has ever seen salt.  It certainly hasn’t in the last ten years.  This car would not be any good for winter driving anyway!  The paint is in great condition with no fading or cloudiness.

Due to the title being branded as Rebuilt Salvage, you have the opportunity to purchase a great, low mileage Z28 Camaro at a price below the market.  The condition of this car tells that it has never been wrecked or repaired.
